Kvm Vnc Mouse

Having a serious problem with my mouse and a windows 2003 server guest on kvm. I use reverse vnc, and the vncviewer of tightvnc. Even after setting the resolution of the guest to 1024x768 (which usually takes care of any mouse troubles in vmware and/or virtualbox), my mouse is still totally off and next to impossible to use. Any suggestions anyone?

Wireless Mouse Kvm

I'm using the logitech mxduo(love it) and now have a netgear kvm(never used kvms before so i bought cheap) and i cannot get my both my keyboard and mouse to work at all when using the kvm. Ie one box will boot up, but it acts as if the mouse and keyboard were not even plugged in, i get the second box booted and same result. I've talked to people who use kvms, only one tried to use a wireless mouse, and he had to start his machines in a certain order otherwise his mouse would not work. And i've checked the kvm and cables to make sure that it is working, and it is. Just not with my mxduo. Anyways my question is how can i get it to work for me(if at all possible), or do i have to get a new kvm or go wired?

Kvm Usb Mouse

I have a ps2kvm4 and i'm using a ps/2 keyboard, which works great. Even the usb keyboard works great when i use a usb to ps/2 adapter. However, i have a usb optical mouse (pretty standard, just two buttons and the wheel) and when using the ps/2 adapter i don't use of my mouse. The optical light is there, but there's just no use of the mouse on any of the three computers that i've got it hooked up to; which are winxp sp3 x86, fedora 7 x86, and a smoothwall firewall. The cheap belkin 2-port ps/2 kvm worked fine with the usb to ps/2 adapter, but the linksys seems to have a problem. Any thoughts at all?

Kvm Switches And Usb Wireless Mouse / Keyboard

I recently bought an iotech kvm switch that has usb connectors. I intended to use my wireless mouse and keyboard setup, which only uses a usb wand to control both. Turns out iotech doesnt support wireless devices. While it does work, it occasionally causes a 'fatal' exception and crashes xp. So . This is obviously not workable. I was hoping someone had run into this before and could let me know how they got around the problem? Is there anyone here who is currently using a kvm switch that supports wireless usb devices?

Kvm To Hook Keyboard / Monitor / Mouse Up To 2 Pc's

I know that a 2-port kvm can hook up a keyboard, monitor, and mouse to two computer, but what about audio? Here's what i want connected to my 2 computers:

1. Logitech mx700 usb mouse
2. Usb keyboard with onboard 2-port usb hub (a working usb hub not required)
3. One regular crt monitor
4. Klipsch 5. 1 promedia sound system

- A. (Connected from klipsch subwoofer to the klipsch digital decoder and from that to the audigy drive via optical cable when playing dvd's only for true dd/dts)
- B. (Connected from klipsch subwoofer to the audigy sound card via 3 cables when not playing dvd's)

Now i need the kvm to not only connect the first 3 things (which most/all kvm's do with no trouble anyways) but also connect my sound system via at least the 3 cables that connect to the sound card. I've seen one that will do regular 2. 0 speakers but not 5. 1. Anyone know how this would work? Btw, it needs to be pc and mac compatable.

Use A Kvm Switch For Usb Keyboard / Mouse Switching

So i'm going to have another computer set up next to my main computer, and i was planning on leaving the main pc hooked up to my monitor's dvi input, and the secondary pc hooked up to the monitor's vga input. Then i just have to hit the input button on the monitor to switch between them. But i also want to use my current usb keyboard/mouse for both pcs. So i figure a kvm switch is what i need for that, but i cannot seem to find a kvm switch without the "v". Not sure how obvious this is, but i am a little confused, can i use a kvm switch just for usb keyboard/mouse switching? I'd rather leave the video input swapping to my monitor since it has multiple inputs.

Kvm Madness

I have two computers. Both have a monitor, mouse and keyboard. Ones in the office and the other is outside the office (in the kitchen) what i need is a kvm setup that enables me to use the one in the kitchen when im inside the office. Then i can switch back to the normal computer in the office. The other computer in the kitchen only would stay the same (meaning it doesnt have to share whats on the office computer)

So to break it down:

1) two computers (one in the office, other in the kitchen)

2) both have a monitor, mouse and keyboard. 3) need to be able to view the kitchens computer inside the office on the office computer. 4) i need to be able to switch back to the office computer inside the office only. 5) the kitchen computer is the only one that would be the same (doesnt have to switch over to see the office computer) only would need to see whats on the kitchen computer.

Laptop As A Kvm

I have two servers (well, one right now, adding another). And i have a cheap, older kvm switch. But i don't have a spare monitor lying around (not that i'd want a crt in my rack anyway). Now, i could go buy a cheap lcd, but even that's too expensive for my tastes. What i do have is an older laptop. So. What i was wondering is if there is any way to use this old laptop as a kvm switch? I mean, it obviously has a display, keyboard, and "mouse". So assuming there was some kind of software available (preferably open source/freeware) as well as a video splitter of some kind, i don't see why this wouldn't be possible. Is it, and if so, how would i do this?

Ps/2 And Usb Kvm Switch

Ive been asked to install a kvm switch for a colleague. He needs normal ps/2 connections on all but one of the devices he wishes to connect. The other device only supplies an usb connection for its peripherals. I just want to use a ps/2 to usb adapter. My hardware supplier says this might be problematic and that i should rather use a special usb kvm switch. This is a bit more expensive and i feel that my supplier is having me on. Would there be an issue in using an adapter instead of a specialized kvm switch?

Is Kvm Suitable For Gaming ?

I am looking to get a kvm so i can control both my computers. I am not a huge gamer, but i play from time to time and would like to have the ability to do that through the kvm. I have heard that some of them have quirks such as not transmitting more than a single key at a time or lagging considerably. Does anyone have any recommendations for a kvm that would work for gaming? Extra points for a kvm with usb keyboard and mouse ports and audio switching.

Triplehead2go And Kvm Switch Problem

I have a triplehead2go (digital dvi version) and a avocent switchview (dvi) kvm device. The triplehead2go works great by itself, i was using the resolution 3840x1024 (1280x1024 across 3 monitors) with it. As soon as i tried to install it with the mentioned kvm switch, the highest resolution i could get with it was 800x600 on each monitor. Any resolution higher then that would cause 2 of the 3 screens to corrupt (the screens had color, but it looked like a single line of color stretched across the entire screen). Any ideas? I tried enabling and disabling sli, newest drivers for both the 8800gtx and the triplehead2go. Rebooting, everything still shows the same error. I think the kvm switch is the problem, just hoping i'm missing something.

Kvm To Connect 2 Pcs ( Computers )

I need a kvm to connect my 2 pcs, and possibly a mac mini in the future. Here are some things i'm looking for:

1) video not important since my monitors have multiple inputs. 2) none of that hotkey bullshit, i want a manual hardwired selector. 3) no slowdown or lag when gaming. 4) compatibility with the mac mini because i'll probably get one later this year. 5) needs to have basic audio sharing. 6) would like to be able to share my usb printer as well. I have a mx1000 and a logitech elite keyboard that i plan to keep.

Using Belkin Kvm Switch With Windows 98

I'd like to share keyboard, monitor and mouse between my apple mac mini and an old pc in which there are two different oss: windows 98 se and ubuntu linux. I had a look on the web and found the belkin kvm switch for mac mini. It should be exactly what i need, but looking at its technical data i noticed it's suitable for mac os x 10. 3 and later (ok for me) and windows 2000 or xp and no need of extra software. Wondering if it could work with windows 98 se, as well, i contacted a misco technician in italy (they sell such switch) who told me there should be a mistake in the technical data and it should work even with windows 98 se. But now i'm a little doubtful and would be grateful to you if you let me know what you think about that (am i supposed to buy it?).

Belkin Kvm Switch Issue

I just purchased a belkin kvm switch in order to switch between two computers at my workplace. One computer is a very, very old gateway (over 8yrs old) that runs microsoft server 2000. There is a program installed on that computer that my manager refuses to lose access to, which is why that computer isn't out in the trash by now. (We don't have the install cd for the program any more, and i can't find them for purchase. ) Basically, getting rid of that computer is not an option, but our company software won't run on it, so that's why i needed to buy the new computer. The other computer is a brand-new dell. I purchased a ps2 belkin kvm switch even though the dell only has usb ports, as i intended to use ps2-to-usb adaptors to plug the cables into the dell. When i try to use the switch, the old gateway functions just fine. When i switch to the new dell and try to boot it up, it gives me a keyboard error, and the keyboard won't work. Does anyone have any ideas about what i might try to get the switch working?

Use Kvm Switch To Share A Monitor Between Two Computers

Having bought a second computer, i am, of course, anxious to network them together. Obviously it will be easier if, other than buying an extra monitor, keyboard and mouse, i can switch between looking at one computer to the other to alter ip address settings etc. The new computer has dvi output to the monitor while the old one only vga. Question 1: am i likely to do any damage to monitor, graphics cards or computers if i were to (accidentally) have both computers plugged into the monitor (one dvi, one vga) and booted them both?

Question 2: naturally, i could just use the vga output from the new computer for setting up purposes but - is there a kvm switch which can share the monitor between the two computers, one vga output, the other dvi (in the home-user price range)? Not had much success searching the net for the answer to this. Question 3: will a kvm switch that works with windows machines necessarily work with linux machines?

Is This A Good 2 Port Kvm For Gaming / Work?

I am transitioning to work at home as i start a family (my wife is due july 8th). I was looking into getting the following kvm switch to use for my home pc / work laptop. Is this any good, has anyone had good experiences with it or any other low/mid priced kvm?

I generally use my pc for gaming (cod 1 & 2, c&c generals, ffxi, fear, hl2, etc. ) And i am concerned about the display quality/ghosting and/or lag. My work laptop (with a port replicator) is windows xp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are There Any Decent Dvi / Usb / Audio Kvm Switches?

I tried looking up some, but many of them had problems. 1. Sometimes there was cross-interferance, mouse movements would appear in audio, etc. 2. Some of them don't support 1080p video. 3. And finally, some just plain don't work at all, or break down after a few weeks. Another problem was that the price nearly blind-sighted me, many of them were in the $200 range! I was looking ot spend under $100, since vga kvms were so much cheaper. Anyway, does anybody know of a good dvi/usb kvm (preferably one with audio too) that doesn't cost a fortune?

Dvi Kvm Switch Max Resolution Support

I need to purchase a new kvm that will support dual dvi connectors. I have been looking at a couple of startech switches. It seems that the max resolution that is supported is only 1280x1024. Since i am using my 22in flat panel at 1680x1050, is there a kvm that will support that resolution? Or can i get away with what i've been looking at? Any thoughts?

Here's one of the switches:

I should also mention that i'd like to get a 4 port switch.

Usb Kvm's That Work With Logitech Gaming Mice

I have used an iogear 4-port usb kvm, model gcs124u for many years. It's been a terrific kvm-until recently. My ms intellimouse explorer 3. 0a finally died and, not being able to find another (only 3. 0's available now), i tried a logitech mx510. Once the mx510 was connected to the kvm, any movement of the mouse in the vertical plane would cause the kvm to enter auto-scan mode. It was unusable. I tried a zonet 4-port kvm, and it sucked rocks. At the advice of a friend, i purchased a new iogear gcs1714 kvm. He was using a newer logitech mouse-but as it turns out, it was not an mx510. Once i tried the mx510 on it i discovered it did the same thing. Am i missing something really basic here? Are the logitech mice not really usb-compliant, or is it a matter of the kvm's lacking proper support?

At the moment i have been using an ms intellimouse explorer 4. 0-and hate it. I'd really, really like to switch to an mx510 or mx518, but i don't know which kvm to purchase. I need a pure usb kvm, with 4 ports, and good-to-excellent video quality. Preferably with an onscreendisplay, but that's not a necessity. I also would like to avoid the "passive" models that take 3-4 seconds to reinitialize the devices between systems on switching. Known/tested compatibility with would be a plus. Does anyone have personal experience/recommendations of particular usb kvm's that work with the new logitech gaming mice?

4 Port Kvm That Works With Logitech Mx500 Elite Keyboard

I'm having a tough time getting a straight answer on this one anywhere on the 'net, somebody recommend me a 4-port kvm (preferrably ps/2, since it may connect to an old server) that will work with these damn logitech products and their extra buttons! It would be nice if it had audio ports, but they are not a necessity. What *is* a necessity is that this thing doesn't take me out a couple hundred bucks, and the video quality is decent enough to run a dell 2005fpw on vga. Of course, easy switching would be nice as well, but my number one criteria is that it works flawlessly with my logitech products and all their extra buttons, and it doesn't often lockup, forcing me to reboot everything. Can anyone help me out, here?

Laptop Inbuilt Synaptics Mouse & External Mouse Fail To Work

On my ~1 year old win xp pro laptop, the inbuilt synaptics mouse and any external mice, ps2 or usb fail to work. I'm having to use it via keystrokes only, so even typing this is hard to get to it. I've had this problem since this morning. I brought it downstairs (its kept upstairs) and turned it on, and when it booted to the welcome screen, the pointer was in the center and my ps2 optical mouse (chic) wasn't responding, although the actual led bit was on. I tried my touchpad (synaptics model) and that also doesn't work. The animated icon in my systray didn't respond to my touches. I have since tried 2 other mice, one ps2 and 1 usb, and i have had no luck. The only way to control my mouse is using mousekeys (ugh) or using a mouse via vnc. I have no hardware devices listed in my mouse hardware list in the control panel. I am not sure if it is a hardware or a software problem, but if i fear the worst, and it's hardware, perhaps my ps2 controller thingy busted? Although it shouldn't take out usb or touchpad either. I hope its more of a software problem, but after rolling back system restore point from last friday (when it definately worked), i have had no luck. I have also reinstalled the drivers for my usb mouse and the driver cd that came with my laptop. I am really stuck, and i won't be able to take it into technical support until monday. I really hope to have this fixed asap. Any help you can give me would be great, and as i use my laptop a lot, i'm really stuffed, everything else seems to be working okay, and i have not noticed any other problems, although there was a process in task manager using about 92% of cpu called sypad or something similar.
