Connect A Second Monitor Now Screen Is Blue

I plugged in a second monitor to my gtx 280 and easily had both running. After a single restart both monitors no longer boot up with a good visual to the desktop. It's a unintelligible mess of purple and blue that is indescribable. I've disconnected one. Tried both separately. I've booted to safe mode which i am in now and reloaded the latest drivers. I've run windows vista repair and nothing there. I've set the resolution to rock bottom to see if a cross compatibility issue occurred(where the smaller monitor picked up as the main and couldn't compute. The major issue is that the computer is actually "locking" up on me. In a couple instances the computer screamed at me as if the video card was not plugged in yet this happened after going through the vista boot sequence and loading to desktop where it freezes up. Someone throw me something to try because i'm out of ideas at the moment. Fyi: i also just got a g15 keyboard and a razor mamba mouse but both were perfectly fine and involved multiple reboots with these devices operating before i had done the second monitor.

Screen Went Blue And No Signal On Monitor

I recently purchased an hdmi cable to use for my computer. As soon as i connected one end to my video card and the other end to my monitor, i went into the built in monitor settings (the dvi cable was still plugged in as well so i could do this) and switched my display to hdmi. After that, my screen went blue and i got a no signal message on the monitor. Now the problem is, i can't even revert back to my original display settings, so i can't even get anything to show on display anymore (i am using my netbook atm). I tried restarting, as well as disconnecting the hdmi cable on both ends and reconnecting dvi. Nothing. The screen stays blue and tells me theres no signal. Keep in mind that i didn't even save any settings. I simple selected hdmi and that was it. Can't see desktop, and i can't even see the bootup sequence. I am very baffled here does anybody know what i can do? The video card is a geforce gtx 295, and the monitor is a benq 2200hd.

Pc Goes To Xp Load Screen Then Into Blue Screen

I have a laptop that when it boots it goes to the xp load screen for about 2 seconds and then a blue screen of love. I ran a linux boot disk to try to trouble shoot it but we couldn't get it to see the drive. I bought a sata 2. 5 drive enclosure and hooked it up to my other computer with the laptop drive in it and it can't see it. The drive gets warm but thats all. I pulled my other laptop drive out and put it into the drive enclosure and it worked fine. What can i do? What options do i have to see if this is still a good drive? Does this mean the drive is dead? Do i need to load drivers? Can i force mount it? Any thoughts?

Keep Getting Blue Screen

I have just built a new p. C, it is an amd athlon 3700+ 64 bit processor, 1gig of ddr ram an ati radeon x550 256mb gamers edition video card and an 80gig hdd (i'll be putting another 80gig on soon). The motherboard is an asus a8n-e. The problem i'm having is it keeps going to a blue screen at any time it feels like it and i get the following msg stop 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbfbc73df, 0xa8b83940, 0x00000000) atiduag.dll address bfbc73df base @ bfac7000 datestamp 4420c719. It also tells me that i should try a bios update or change my adapter or update the drivers. I wrote to ati, they said to uninstall all ati stuff from the p. C restart, turn the antivirus off and install the newest driver. I have done this but still get the same msg. I have yet to update the bios as i'm not sure what i'm doing in that area. I gather the problem is with the file atiduag.dll but i'm not sure what to do about it. I also wanted to go in, in safemode but don't know what buttons to push to get into safe mode. Del gets me into setup and f8 gets me into the boot setup. I'm still not sure if it's a video card prob or a motherboard prob, but i do know it needs fixing. If anyone has any ideas, could they please help me out as i'm getting rather frustrated. I'm also not using the catalyst control center at the moment.

Memtest - Blue Screen

My computer has had various blue screens in the last few days. Mostly its machine_check_exception or critical_structure_corruption. It passes memtest with flying colors, or so i thought! I decided to run orthos over night and i set it to reboot upon bsod. I also inserted the memtest cd so as soon as it rebooted it would start running memtest. Well as soon as it crashed and memtest launched it spammed hundreds of errors. Powered off, turned back on, passed memtest with flying colors. Any ideas here? Read more at the forum.

Bsod's - Blue Screen Of Death

Well. I got my new system and all, and i put it together last night. I have it a good test run before heading to bed. Ran perfectly. So this morning, i get back on it, and decide to install norton. The installation goes through fine and everything. I restart, as needed by norton, and i notice that during post, it says my ram is "ddr333mhz, single channel". I realize that this is wrong, since the ram i purchased is pc3200, (ddr400mhz), and dual channel. I decide to go to the motherboard's user manual to see if there was something i needed to do to make it run in dual channel mode. Doh! I had placed both sticks of ram on the same channel.

I shut down windows, switch off and unplug the psu, open the case, and then i move the ram to its second channel. I close everything up and boot up windows. Everything running fine for a while until i start to install age of empires iii. Blue screen. I decided to restart, thinking it was just a one time error, but it wasn't. It seemed like every time i tried to install something, and like. Surf the web or something, it would crash/restart/bsod on me. I try a reinstall. I think i got about 8 minutes into the install, (after the initial format > copy files to hdd process), before it gave me a bsod. I used my newer copy of winxp pro, (the ones now that come with sp2 already installed).

Ok, i thought. Maybe it's the windows disc, (it's pretty scratched). I decide to use my older, non-sp2 installation disc. "Success!" I thought. Windows boots and everything. Though, i notice that my 160gb hdd is only being detected as 127gb. A bit strange i thought, so i tried to i start to install sp2, (from the disc from microsoft), to see if that would solve the hdd space problem. Crashed, (it restarts itself after every crash). I tried installing some device drivers. Some were successful, but the usb 2. 0 drivers for some reason required at least sp1. So i moved on to the next set of drivers. Crash. Once again, i tried the sp2 installation. It amazingly went through.

So now that i'm back on sp2, things seem a bit more stable. It now detects the hdd to about what it should be, (158gb). I could now install video drivers and sound drivers and whatnot, without a problem. Seemed perfectly fine, at last. Until about 5 minutes ago, where it crashed for no reason, after 30 or so seconds from a boot. At this point, i'm pretty ***. I'm might try to see if it'll work fine, back on a single channel, since it seemed to be working fine the first time. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem, anyway?

Update: went into bios and manually set the memory clock speed to 333mhz, instead of 400mhz. Everything runs perfectly. This is somewhat of a downer, since i would like to get the full potential i can from this memory. It puzzles me as to why i can't run at it's full speed. The board supports ddr400mhz dual channel ram, so i don't see where the problem could be.

Constant Random Blue Screen

Well for various reasons (one being constant random blue screens) i decided to format and reinstall windows last night. So i open up the box, disconnect all storage drives put in the windows installation cd and start, use the usual settings after it's done copying files it blue screens. So i shut down and retry the whole thing again, and blue screen after the copying files portion again. First test, memory. Ran memtest86 and it had an error on test 4. I took out both sticks and one of the gold connectors on one of the sticks looked burned. So i put that aside inspected the other one and put it back in the system. Started the windows installation and crashed in the same spot. So i thought maybe i put the memory in the slot that the burned stick was in so i put it in the other spot and ran memtest86 and it passed 4 full test passes. Started windows installation. Blue screen in the same spot. Second test, hard drive - made a wd diag tool cd and did a quick scan - no errors, did a full scan - no errors. Third test, one of the pci devices. I took out all pci devices. Try again and blue screen on the same spot once again. Fourth test, video card - so i switched video cards with my bro's comp. Try to install again and once again blue screen in the same spot. At this point the only thing i can think of doing is taking everything out of the system and trying the install as bare as possible. Any thing you guys suggest?

Blue Screen With 0x00000024 Error

Unit: a dell optiplex 745 tower with 2 80gb sata drives. Windows xp pro. One drive connected to sata0, another one is connected to sata4 on the mobo. Error code: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8a6c6008, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000). Problem: unit was infected with trojan/malwares(pav or personal antivirus) i was able to boot into windows at first, then i reboot it into safe mode and got bsod. The only setting i changed was turn on the smart setting in the bios. Still getting the bsod after i turned the smart setting off. I used ubcd4win to boot up the pc. I see drive c with no hard drive space info on it, drive d with 80gb of free space. At first, i though the drives were setup as raid setting, but the owner of the unit doesn't remember anything about raid when he got it from dell. Also two drives are connected to sata0 and sata4 on the mobo. I don't want to running any kind of disk diagnostic program on the drives, afraid it would've do more damage to the drives. I was able to see the windows logo screen when i disconnected the power to drive2 on the sata4 port, but still got bsod with it. The owner told me that he tried adaware, spybot and spyhunter to remove the pav, but no success. Any suggestion on how to fix the problem? Probably have to do a system restore on it, but why i can't see the data on drive 1 in ubcd4win, but still able to see the windows logo screen when i boot up the pc with just that drive?

Atikmdag.sys Blue Screen

I started getting bluescreens a couple weeks ago referencing atikmdag.sys

Tonight i decided to fix this. Here's what i did. 1.complete reformat, install vista from cd. 2. Install al critical updates via windowsupdate. 3. Install chipset driver from intel.com
4. Install catalyst 9. 3 from ati.com
5. Reboot, and i get the same exact blue screen. Situation #2

1.complete reformat, install vista from cd. 2. Did not install any updates at all via windowsupdate. 3. Did not instal chipset driver from intel.com
4. Installed catalyst 9. 3 from ati.com
5. Reboot, and i get the same exact blue screen. (Damnit)

What the *** is going on here?

I've reformatted like ten times so i have a fresh start each time. I've tried instaling 9. 2 instad of 9. 3. No love. Same issue. I have a feeling it's not the video cards because a simple google search shows massive history of ati and these atkmdag.sys blue screen problems. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do? I'm writing this post from my laptop because my desktop pc is a paperweight atm. Here's my system specs:

Quad core extreme 6850
2gb crucial ballistix pc1600 memory
Velociraptor x2 raid0
Antec signature series 850watt power supply
Ati 4850's in crossfire (two cards)

Blue Screen When Gaming On Hdtv

I connected a 5970 to my hdtv via a mini displayport to hdmi adapter and when loading up a game or exiting one it'll sometimes blue screen with a irql not less or equal error. I've tried disabling the ati hdmi audio device to see if that was the culprit, but no luck. The weird thing is it happens randomly. Also, it's not reproducible on my main display. Edit: under further testing. This only seems to happen with crysis warhead. Catalyst 10. 2 here.

Random Reboots - No Blue Screen

My computer is set up to not automatically restart upon failure. However lately, it is rebooting itself and there is no apparent cause. I don't understand why it's failing since i have no error message whatsoever. Event viewer just says:-

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. The reboots have happened during divx encoding, which doesn't seem to be overly taxing on the i7 920 that i'm using. Also, i've had two reboots in photo-shop. The i7 is over-clocked to 3. 65 - i had it at 3. 8 for a long time without problems. How can i troubleshoot? Is it a power problem, or video card, or memory or what? I don't know how to isolate this. Presumably the lack of a blue screen rules out some components?

Hp Pavillion Ze5300 Xp Blue Screen

My friend just gave me a hp pavillion ze5300. He said it works perfectly, but he just got a new one. I believe this laptop is a 2002. So it's pretty old. It has windows xp on it. When you turn it on it only loads up until where it says microsoft windows xp which is a blue screen and normally it would just go to the login part after it displays the blue windows screen. It seems like a pretty good computer although i just cant get past that one screen! I've tried rebooting and everything and nothing seems to be happening. Windows Blue Screen Of Death

My new dell's hard drive died so i started using my older celeron dell. It's got 255mb of ram and slow but i've been fixing her up and she ran nicely. Yesterday sound stopped playing, so i went to the recovery ( yes i made sure everything was un-muted ) and clicked system restore, and selected a restore point to the last time my computer worked properly. It began it's shut down and had a loading bar saying system is restoring. After it's start up i get a blue stop screen:

An attempt was made to write to read-only memory. Check to make sure any hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates that you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components restart and press f8 for advanced options. Ok it wont let me into safe mode, it gives me these options.

Safe mode with networking
Safe mode command prompt

Enable boot logging ( didn't work )

Enable vga mode ( not sure what this does but that didn't work either )

Last known good config. ( I wish. But didn't work )

Directory services restore mode ( didn't work )

Debugging mode

Disable auto restart on system failure ( didn't work )

Start window normally

Reboot

Return to os choices menu

The only hardware on that computer is the mouse, keyboard and speakers, i unplugged all of these then restarted and got the same message. Finding new software or disabling what ever would be fine but it wont start up and let me log in. Am i able to disable the needed bios features from the setup menu? Also i don't have windows home edition disk so i can't reinstall that at the moment.

How To Fix Blue Screen Of Death?

The bsod has been popping up for the past 2 days and it's really annoying. I saved my music, pictures, videos, and google chrome data onto my external hard drive, but i don't know how to save the specific stuff like program files onto it too. Since it's a 500gb ex hdd, it can handle the 90gb i have stored on my computer. Also, i am in safe mode right now with networking so i'm able to use the internet. This is the microsoft windows report i have so far:

Problem signature:
Problem event name: bluescreen
Os version: 6. 0. 6001. 2. 1. 0. 768. 3
Locale id: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
Bccode: 50
Bcp1: fffffffb
Bcp2: 00000000
Bcp3: 8204e20c
Bcp4: 00000000
Os version: 6_0_6001
Service pack: 1_0
Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\windows\minidump\mini072910-03.dmp
C:\users\anand\appdata\local\tempwer-78
C:\users\anand\appdata\local\tempwer343

If you say to delete recently installed programs, how would i know what programs were recently installed? I don't have the best memory. Also, i have a 17" dell inspiron 1720 from 2007 i believe. It has 4gb of custom installed ram and 1. 47 intel processor.

Vista Blue Screen Error

Ok well, i don't know much about computers, let alone all these errors and stuff. Recently, i've had some registry error problems and have downloaded several programs to help. I bought registry convoy which stopped giving me error pop ups. I have been using registry convoy regularly because some errors keep coming back. Four days ago, i downloaded a new game which required me to download the program steam. Everything was going fine until 2 days ago. My computer randomly shutdown. It continually started to shutdown/restart when i used steam. After leaving my computer alone for the night, everything was fine the next day. My computer was on all day and nothing happened. I figured it was overheating or something. At the end of the day though, it started again. I searched a bit and found out you could stop your computer restarting when an error or something occurred. I did that, and thats when i started to get the blue screen error. I'll note down the details. Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Technical information:

*** Stop: 0x000000d1 (0xcf30023, 0x000000ff, 0x00000008, 0xcff30023)

It has other stuff which are just guidelines i guess, giving you a couple things to try etc. I'll also give additional details about my laptop. Asus pro50sr core 2 duo, t5900 2. 2 ghz 320gb 4gb ati <- know idea what any of that means. I can add details if needed, i just really wanna fix this :(. I'm capped at the moment which makes searching for this stuff a little harder. Also, would it help if i maybe uninstalled steam?

Blue Screen Of Death With Vista

System info:

Acer aspire ax3810
Windows vista home prem. 64-bit
Cpu - q8300 intel core 2 quad
Mem - 8gb ddr3
750gb hard drive

I also have an ati 4650 1024mb graphics card. I unhooked my computer, which was running as beautifully as ever, and packed it away in it's original packaging so that our cats wouldn't mess it up when my wife and i were in egypt for fifteen days. I put the boxes in a cool, dry closet. We got back last night and i unpacked the pc before my suitcase. It was a bit slower than before but i figured it was just getting into the flow of being used again. My wife was away, so i got mass effect 2 up and running, which had been running perfectly before i left, and started to play.

Two minutes into the game, my system crashes and i get a "blue screen of death" message. I thought i noticed the memory dump reading "complete, " but as i was turning off the computer, i noticed it said "physical memory dump '40'". The computer shuts down. I turn it on again - "no signal" on the monitor. There was also a noticeable delay from the time i hit the power button to the time the computer started up. I turned the computer off again, but then the keyboard light and the mouse light remained on, unusual because they usually turn off with the computer.

I disconnected the monitor cables and the power cables, reattached them tightly, turned the computer on again, and it runs normally for 45 minutes. I'm looking through photos from egypt and the blue screen appears again. I wait until the physical memory dump is complete before turning off the computer. Since then, i have not been able to get past "no signal. " Not experiencing the 3-5 second delays with the power anymore, and the keyboard turns off with the pc, but the monitor is not picking up any signal.

Would love some help. Have had the pc for less than a year, and would prefer not having to ship it off to a tech shop for a week or something. I've since opened up the computer, cleaned the dust out and off of the graphics card, reassembled it, and it started working again. I started the computer in safe mode, and then it shut down after two minutes or so with the blue screen message without giving me a chance to run any diagnostics. What should i do now?
