Windows Blue Screen Of Death
Replies: 3 | Post Date: 2 months ago | User: Chibi | Forums: answers.yahoo.comMy new dell's hard drive died so i started using my older celeron dell. It's got 255mb of ram and slow but i've been fixing her up and she ran nicely. Yesterday sound stopped playing, so i went to the recovery ( yes i made sure everything was un-muted ) and clicked system restore, and selected a restore point to the last time my computer worked properly. It began it's shut down and had a loading bar saying system is restoring. After it's start up i get a blue stop screen:
An attempt was made to write to read-only memory. Check to make sure any hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates that you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components restart and press f8 for advanced options. Ok it wont let me into safe mode, it gives me these options.
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode command prompt
Enable boot logging ( didn't work )
Enable vga mode ( not sure what this does but that didn't work either )
Last known good config. ( I wish. But didn't work )
Directory services restore mode ( didn't work )
Debugging mode
Disable auto restart on system failure ( didn't work )
Start window normally
Reboot
Return to os choices menu
The only hardware on that computer is the mouse, keyboard and speakers, i unplugged all of these then restarted and got the same message. Finding new software or disabling what ever would be fine but it wont start up and let me log in. Am i able to disable the needed bios features from the setup menu? Also i don't have windows home edition disk so i can't reinstall that at the moment.

Well. I got my new system and all, and i put it together last night. I have it a good test run before heading to bed. Ran perfectly. So this morning, i get back on it, and decide to install norton. The installation goes through fine and everything. I restart, as needed by norton, and i notice that during post, it says my ram is "ddr333mhz, single channel". I realize that this is wrong, since the ram i purchased is pc3200, (ddr400mhz), and dual channel. I decide to go to the motherboard's user manual to see if there was something i needed to do to make it run in dual channel mode. Doh! I had placed both sticks of ram on the same channel.
I shut down windows, switch off and unplug the psu, open the case, and then i move the ram to its second channel. I close everything up and boot up windows. Everything running fine for a while until i start to install age of empires iii. Blue screen. I decided to restart, thinking it was just a one time error, but it wasn't. It seemed like every time i tried to install something, and like. Surf the web or something, it would crash/restart/bsod on me. I try a reinstall. I think i got about 8 minutes into the install, (after the initial format > copy files to hdd process), before it gave me a bsod. I used my newer copy of winxp pro, (the ones now that come with sp2 already installed).
Ok, i thought. Maybe it's the windows disc, (it's pretty scratched). I decide to use my older, non-sp2 installation disc. "Success!" I thought. Windows boots and everything. Though, i notice that my 160gb hdd is only being detected as 127gb. A bit strange i thought, so i tried to i start to install sp2, (from the disc from microsoft), to see if that would solve the hdd space problem. Crashed, (it restarts itself after every crash). I tried installing some device drivers. Some were successful, but the usb 2. 0 drivers for some reason required at least sp1. So i moved on to the next set of drivers. Crash. Once again, i tried the sp2 installation. It amazingly went through.
So now that i'm back on sp2, things seem a bit more stable. It now detects the hdd to about what it should be, (158gb). I could now install video drivers and sound drivers and whatnot, without a problem. Seemed perfectly fine, at last. Until about 5 minutes ago, where it crashed for no reason, after 30 or so seconds from a boot. At this point, i'm pretty ***. I'm might try to see if it'll work fine, back on a single channel, since it seemed to be working fine the first time. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem, anyway?
Update: went into bios and manually set the memory clock speed to 333mhz, instead of 400mhz. Everything runs perfectly. This is somewhat of a downer, since i would like to get the full potential i can from this memory. It puzzles me as to why i can't run at it's full speed. The board supports ddr400mhz dual channel ram, so i don't see where the problem could be.

Blue Screen Of Death While At Default
Well, my computer was up for like an hour, and when i tried to play some bf1942 i got a very brief blue screen (~. 2 seconds) and then a restart. Tried to boot into windows, the second my desktop loaded, got another blue screen (this time ~2 seconds), and yet another restart. I'm pretty sure i can rule out heat. As i've got a prometeia mach i phase change. The bios is at default, but what else could it be? My mem is at default as well.

Blue Screen Of Death On Laptop
I was wondering if anyone here have experience having bsd and how to fix that problem
Firts i have a laptop model ibm
Os: windows xp sp2
Router: wireless d-link dir300
Modem: given by globe
When i try to connect the laptop from the wireless network of my router it crashes and bsd shows up
I asked many people and this is what they said to me
1. Maybe there is a problem with your harddisk. Me. My harddisk is new and is defragmented already
2. Ram - my ram looks fine and working

How To Fix Blue Screen Of Death?
The bsod has been popping up for the past 2 days and it's really annoying. I saved my music, pictures, videos, and google chrome data onto my external hard drive, but i don't know how to save the specific stuff like program files onto it too. Since it's a 500gb ex hdd, it can handle the 90gb i have stored on my computer. Also, i am in safe mode right now with networking so i'm able to use the internet. This is the microsoft windows report i have so far:
Problem signature:
Problem event name: bluescreen
Os version: 6. 0. 6001. 2. 1. 0. 768. 3
Locale id: 1033
Additional information about the problem:
Bccode: 50
Bcp1: fffffffb
Bcp2: 00000000
Bcp3: 8204e20c
Bcp4: 00000000
Os version: 6_0_6001
Service pack: 1_0
Product: 768_1
Files that help describe the problem:
C:\windows\minidump\mini072910-03.dmp
C:\users\anand\appdata\local\tempwer-78¦
C:\users\anand\appdata\local\tempwer343¦
If you say to delete recently installed programs, how would i know what programs were recently installed? I don't have the best memory. Also, i have a 17" dell inspiron 1720 from 2007 i believe. It has 4gb of custom installed ram and 1. 47 intel processor.

Blue Screen Of Death With Vista
System info:
Acer aspire ax3810
Windows vista home prem. 64-bit
Cpu - q8300 intel core 2 quad
Mem - 8gb ddr3
750gb hard drive
I also have an ati 4650 1024mb graphics card. I unhooked my computer, which was running as beautifully as ever, and packed it away in it's original packaging so that our cats wouldn't mess it up when my wife and i were in egypt for fifteen days. I put the boxes in a cool, dry closet. We got back last night and i unpacked the pc before my suitcase. It was a bit slower than before but i figured it was just getting into the flow of being used again. My wife was away, so i got mass effect 2 up and running, which had been running perfectly before i left, and started to play.
Two minutes into the game, my system crashes and i get a "blue screen of death" message. I thought i noticed the memory dump reading "complete, " but as i was turning off the computer, i noticed it said "physical memory dump '40'". The computer shuts down. I turn it on again - "no signal" on the monitor. There was also a noticeable delay from the time i hit the power button to the time the computer started up. I turned the computer off again, but then the keyboard light and the mouse light remained on, unusual because they usually turn off with the computer.
I disconnected the monitor cables and the power cables, reattached them tightly, turned the computer on again, and it runs normally for 45 minutes. I'm looking through photos from egypt and the blue screen appears again. I wait until the physical memory dump is complete before turning off the computer. Since then, i have not been able to get past "no signal. " Not experiencing the 3-5 second delays with the power anymore, and the keyboard turns off with the pc, but the monitor is not picking up any signal.
Would love some help. Have had the pc for less than a year, and would prefer not having to ship it off to a tech shop for a week or something. I've since opened up the computer, cleaned the dust out and off of the graphics card, reassembled it, and it started working again. I started the computer in safe mode, and then it shut down after two minutes or so with the blue screen message without giving me a chance to run any diagnostics. What should i do now?

Blue Screen Of Death - Computer Freeze
Ok. My pc just went through a bsod (blue screen of death) and i turned it off. When i try to turn it back on the light is on and everything but there is no signal to the monitor. I tried checking the cables and everything is fine. Is there anything that can cause this like a virus or something?
I just closed sro (silk road online) and moved my mouse over a shortcut icon and then the computer froze for about half a second and the bsod popped up. I have avg and just did a scan this morning so i dont think it was a virus. I'm just going to cut the power and go to sleep and hope that god loves me and fixes the computer. Im sort of freaking out now because i just got the computer. For christmas and my dad just got me a new graphics card (look for my other topic and you will know) and its coming in the mail. And my dad wont get me another one. This is why i stick to macs. I got about $110 from christmas and if my computer is dead im going to have to wait about 4 or 5 more years.

Blue Screen Of Death When Reading Cd Rom
The problem is with a client's system. I turned it on, and went to install an updated version of mira scan. It was a burned cd and it read ok. I extracted the setup files to the hard drive. Etc etc. After this, i restarted to get the scanner working. I then went to install is norton anti-virus. I put in the cd, closed it, and then as soon as the cd rom started to read, the system gave me a blue screen. An exception occured at. Blah blah. I hit enter, and sometimes it will do it again, and sometimes explorer crashes and then just comes back. As soon as i go to my computer and the cd rom reads, the same thing again. Each time, the "occured at:" is different. I didn't have much time to look at it last night, so i just left it. I am going to try my dvd drive in it to see if it still does it. Nothing has been changed though. The last thing that was done was that scanner software!
Any ideas guys?

Gtx 260 Blue Screen Of Death
Anyway when i play gta iv: after a minute it begins to show weird artifacts, also the textures seem to have problems and then. Bluescreen of death! Oh no. Installed the newest drivers (instead of the ones from the cd) and it was bsod. Then installed the nvidia gtaiv optimized drivers, bsod. Then some-one mentioned if you underclock it with 5mhz it works fine. So i installed ntune from nvidia. But when you go to preferences and you have to accept the license agreement: blue screen of death before it does anything. I don't even see new options or whatever. What to do people? I saw this coming more regularly. If people need more specs i'll look 'm up. Even got a pic of my pc case from the inside but i suppose that wouldn't be much help. I did not overclock anything, installed all the latest drivers, everything is legal, and didn't do anything weird. I bought this whole pc system. Yesterday.system specs:
Intel core i7 920 @ 2. 67 ghz
Nvidia geforce gtx 260 vid card
6gb ddr3 1600 ram
Motherboard: msi x59 platinum
Vista 64 + sp1

How To Begin To Fix Bsod ( Blue Screen Of Death ) ?
I came turned on the monitor i saw the bsod with the following code:
Stop: 0x000000f4 (0x00000003 0x86b79580 0x86b796f-4 0x805d1180)
I am guessing these might be caused by millions of things. But to see what really triggered this, i looked at the "system event viewer" but there plenty of things logged till the time i actually restarted the computer while bsod was still on the screen. The most common reason why bsods are caused is due to bad memory and bad mobo's but ive spent money into quality stuff. So, how should i start?. I really got frustrated by seeing this. The reason why i spent alot is because i didnt want to see these blue screens.

Install Windows 2003 Keeps Blue Screen
I have a hp proliant ml150, this is my issue: i have been trying to install windows 2003 and it keeps blue screening. It has a srcu42e scsi card, it is a raid server. I have downloaded the drivers from intel and when i install windows 2003 the installation finishes and it still blue screens. The server has 4 controller cards and i have removed the cards and it still does the samething. I have removed the memory and placed a new memory and still does the same thing. I have removed another scsi card from another server and it still blue screens. Something is causing windows to blue screen. Please help if anyone has seen this issue.

Windows Error - Blue Screen - Unmountable_boot_volume
About an hour ago i was getting ready to go to bed, i turned off my monitor. Same thing i do everynight. Then i heard the "beep" of my computer restarting. So naturally i'm like "***?" So i turn my computer on, it loads up, and then it starts acting wierd. I never go to do anything while in windows, but i tried closing some of the *** on startup, anyway, it was as if the comp froze. Now to my problem. I restarted my pc after it was being slow, thinking well. Maybe something is just wrong with it. On startup it gave me the horrible "blue screen" a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Unmountable_boot_volume
This has happened to 2 of my pc's the same exact thing. What do i do to fix it?

Light Blue Welcome Screen At Startup - Windows Xp
My computer used to take about 2 seconds consistently in the light blue "welcome" screen for the past 2 years or so. Sometimes, it used to take about 6 seconds. And this mainly occured when my internet was down. So i knew that when the "welcome" screen took longer my internet was most likely down. Recently, after a few windows automatic updates, a service pack 3 install or i am not sure if when my dvd burner stalled the "welcome" screen is taking longer than usual, about 6 seconds. However, my internet is working fine. From your experience, what is the typical time it takes for the "welcome" screen to go through?
Does taking longer at the "welcome" screen an indication that there is a conflict or is it just loading information?

Hard Drive Corrupt ? Random Blue Screens Of Death
Earlier today i started getting random blue screens of death. After reboots and check disk i uninstalled windows 7 and installed windows vista. I left everything on my storage drive untouched. After installing vista everything seemed back to normal until i tried to move some stuff from my storage drive over to the main os drive. The blue screens of death starting popping out again and random errors. It's very frustrating since i have a lot of important stuff in this storage drive and it seems like i have to reformat. But before i do i am wondering if anyone knows the exact problem.

Windows Xp Startup Problem - Blue Screen, Reboot, Repeat
I have not used this computer for the past couple of years, and the few times i've tried to turn it on recently, i get a blue screen that reads:
Stop: c0000221 {bad image checksum}
The image ole32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum. The way it happens is that after the windows xp logo screen shows up (the one with the "loading" bar), i get a blue screen that flashes so quickly i can't read it, and then the computer restarts. I can get the blue screen to stay by hitting f8 repeatedly as the computer boots up, then selecting "disable automatic restart on system failure" from the menu. Also from that f8 screen, i have tried starting in the following modes but the same problem happens, where it gets to the xp logo/loading screen, then has the blue screen flash and reboots:
- Safe mode
- Last known good configuration
- Debugging mode
I have been pointed to this page (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?Scid=kb;en-us;326687&product=winxp) but i am a little confused by it, especially because i don't have a windows 98 or me disk. (This computer came from dell in 2000 with windows 98 on it, and i installed xp on it a year or two later from a windows xp professional cd, and used the computer successfully for the next few years, installing a service pack or two along the way. I can't find a way to follow their instructions to create a windows 98 start-up disk from ms-dos because i am not running 98 on this machine. )
Other message boards have suggested to try going into "repair" mode by inserting my windows xp installation disk. I followed the instructions here (http://www.Michaelstevenstech.com/xprepairinstall.htm), without backing up my data because i can't get into my operating system to do that. (I realize that is risky; didn't think i really had a choice. ) I got as far as step 3, as listed under "xp repair install. " But when i hit "enter" to start the windows setup, i got this message:
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. "Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. "Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press f3. "
Now, the computer came with a 20gb harddrive in 2000. At the beginning of 2005, a friend installed a new harddrive for me, 250gb, which replaced the 20gb. (The 20gb is no longer in there. ) The 250gb drive shows up in the list of drives on the black-with-white text bios screen that shows up at the beginning of each reboot, so something must be detecting the drive. So i don't know what to do now! Is my only option get a new harddrive, install xp on it, then run my current hard drive as a slave in order to pull files off it?
Configuration: windows xp pro

Flashing Bios To Install Windows 7 Caused Blue Screen Error
I was having problems installing windows 7(currently running xp). My friend suggested flashing my bios. I did has he said. Now i'm getting blue screens. He said it could be the ram voltage so i played around with it. No luck. To make sure it was the ram causing the issue, i did an orthos stress test. 4 seconds after starting it. Error. I left my comp off overnight and it worked for about half an hour this morning without a blue screen. Anyone know what i should do to fix this? My system specs should be up to date on my profile if you need any of those.

Orange Screen Of Death
Alright, i was typing madly along like i do every day, and the screen on my laptop went 100% orange. After 10 seconds of staring and blinking, i rebooted it and it's fine. Has anyone ever seen this? What happened?

Nvidia / Evga / Pink Screen Of Death
Thought it be funny to share this. The new bsod is psod (pink screen of death). Probably just some driver error. But perhaps it could be a hardware defect / bad batch. Seems to effect gtx260 and maybe 280s. http://www.Evga.com/forums/tm.asp?M=707344

Pc Goes To Xp Load Screen Then Into Blue Screen
I have a laptop that when it boots it goes to the xp load screen for about 2 seconds and then a blue screen of love. I ran a linux boot disk to try to trouble shoot it but we couldn't get it to see the drive. I bought a sata 2. 5 drive enclosure and hooked it up to my other computer with the laptop drive in it and it can't see it. The drive gets warm but thats all. I pulled my other laptop drive out and put it into the drive enclosure and it worked fine. What can i do? What options do i have to see if this is still a good drive? Does this mean the drive is dead? Do i need to load drivers? Can i force mount it? Any thoughts?

Keep Getting Blue Screen
I have just built a new p. C, it is an amd athlon 3700+ 64 bit processor, 1gig of ddr ram an ati radeon x550 256mb gamers edition video card and an 80gig hdd (i'll be putting another 80gig on soon). The motherboard is an asus a8n-e. The problem i'm having is it keeps going to a blue screen at any time it feels like it and i get the following msg stop 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbfbc73df, 0xa8b83940, 0x00000000) atiduag.dll address bfbc73df base @ bfac7000 datestamp 4420c719. It also tells me that i should try a bios update or change my adapter or update the drivers. I wrote to ati, they said to uninstall all ati stuff from the p. C restart, turn the antivirus off and install the newest driver. I have done this but still get the same msg. I have yet to update the bios as i'm not sure what i'm doing in that area. I gather the problem is with the file atiduag.dll but i'm not sure what to do about it. I also wanted to go in, in safemode but don't know what buttons to push to get into safe mode. Del gets me into setup and f8 gets me into the boot setup. I'm still not sure if it's a video card prob or a motherboard prob, but i do know it needs fixing. If anyone has any ideas, could they please help me out as i'm getting rather frustrated. I'm also not using the catalyst control center at the moment.

Blank Blue Screen
My friend is having a problem where his comp when he boots up, goes to a blank blue scerrn. No mouse no letters no words no nothing. He has to reboot a couple times before things go as planned. He scanned for viruses using avg and for spyware using spybot but found nothing. I think that it might be a hardware problem. Any sugestions?
