Mouse Cursor Makes My Computer Freeze

My computer is almost brand new, and quite the powerhouse, but for some reason, using the mouse will make the computer freeze up no blue screen of death, no error messages, it just dies and dosen't respond to anything. I can't ctrl+alt+del at all, and even pinging this machine from another (business intranet) results in lost packets (100% loss everytime. )

The solutions i have tried are numerous. First i thought if i changed drivers, nothing. New mouse, went from a ps/2 mechanical mouse to a usb optical mouse, complete with new drivers, no change still. Irq settings, seem ok, but i didn't look too deeply into that. Dma channels, seem ok. So, if this was some simple issue like a bad ps/2 port, i can understand, but using the keyboard to navigate my whole machine is getting a little annoying. Any suggestions from anyone?

Esata Hdd Makes Computer Freeze Randomly

I have a problem when connecting my esata hdd to this motherboard (p5k mobo). Basically i'm using a samsung hdd with an enclosure and i connect it to the pc via a esata cable going to the esata input at the back of the comp. The problem is the computer keeps freezing for like 10-20 seconds randomly while the esata device is connected. If i switch the esata device off (via the enclosure's switch) it works fine. Is this a known issue for this mobo and e-sata?

Also there are so many drivers i cant find which one i need to update as i haven't updated the mobo since i got it like 3 years ago. My mobo is a p5k but on the manual it says p4s533-e.

When Using Mouse Computer Beeps And Cursor Freezes

Its nothing to do with any program but like when im using my mouse i just get some beeps from the computer like 1beep, 2beeps, 1beep then my mouse will freeze and i either get movement back and its all ok or the cursor freezes but everything else is ok, i will give 2 examples

1. I was on the desktop, msn messenger was dl'ing and i just finished updating direct x. The folder with everything i extracted i highlighted and tried to move then i got those beeps and the cursor froze, but msn continued dl'ing and then completed! I reset and installed it, wasnt even corrupt or owt. 2. As i was filling out system specs in user cp now, i went to click on the privacy thing if i want others to see my specs and as i clicked i got the beeps but i got movement back, then a few mins later as i tried to scroll down same thing but im still going. Now as im writing this im running blend test on orthos and 50 mins so far. Also i have speedfan running. - Ram? Maybe a possiblity but surely orthos would have shown that by now?
- Cpu overheating? But idle im 25 degrees and right now under 100% load im 40 degrees
- Psu? Not enough power or something? But i aint got a powerhouse rig really. Any help is appreciated! And the beep happend again now! Also, i checked the manual if the beeps meant anything and nothing, but any beeps you get is when post, not in windows.

Xoxide Mouse Cause Computer Freeze

My mouse wont work. Its that glowing one from xoxide, and every time i plug it in my computer freezes. Same thing with my backlit keyboard, the backlite function freezes anything. I know the products are ok because ive used them on my older hp computer. Im thinking it could be my motherboard, because it has some problems with onboard sensors already. Anyone know if i can fix it? Or is it completely non-motherboard related?

Keyboard And Mouse Freeze - Must Unplug Computer

Nearly everyday my iq504 will suddenly just freeze up. The mouse and keyboard are completely unresponsive as well as the touchscreen. Ctrl-alt-del does nothing. The only choice i have is to unplug the computer (basically crashing eveything i may have had open at the time) and then restarting it up. Sometimes this happens while i am in the middle of using internet explorer, sometimes using microsoft money, sometimes using ms-outlook, etc. I have also had instances where everything was fine, i get up to get a soda, come back and i am frozen up. I wasn't even touching the computer and only left it for a couple minutes and this happens. Is this happening to me uniquely or do others here experience this as well. If so, has anyone found a solution? I've already downloaded the latest drivers from the hp website. I don't know what else to try at this point.

Mouse Cursor Moves Automatically From Up To Down

Whenever i connect my pc to internet (dialup, gprs) my mouse pointer starts messing up with me. It automatically starts moving from up to down from left to right randomly. I think i should specify here that it only happens when i connect my pc to net. Whenever i try to click on some link it just slips down. I think there is no problem with the mouse or there is no hardware related problem, i have tried replacing the mouse but of no use. The only thing in my mind is a virus or some stupid trojan tryin to hijack my mouse pointer. Any body having any idea what's wrong?

Mouse Pointer ( Cursor ) Not Responding

My friend is having a problem with his mouse not working. He is able to move the mouse cursor around but then it doesn't respond when clicking on an icon, taskbar, or anything. Can anyone help diagnose the problem we are are having?

He is running windows xp 32bit and his comp is really old (his mouse still uses the track ball and is not via usb port) and i think his pc has some other problems of it's own that could be related to this, but i don't know.

Mouse Cursor Click Triggering

For no obvious reason my laptop has developed a fault where if you move it slightly it triggers the mouse click and starts triggering actions (depending on where the cursor is pointing). Anybody experienced this before?

For example if you are sitting with it on your lap surfing the web then adjust your sitting position you end up navigating to different web pages - any thoughts?

It is a fujitsu siemens amillo laptop.

Mouse Cursor ( Pointer ) Veers Off The Screen

I am using a dell latitude laptop, wih an external wired mouse. This laptop also has something called a synaptic touchpad, plus a ball in the center of the keyboard, with two buttons (right and left clicks). The os is windows 2000, and i use ms office 2003. The problem is at times, say usually when i have been using the laptop for 20+ minutes or so, the mouse indicator (pointer) on the screen suddenly "comes alive" and veers off to the right, left, top or bottom - and off the visible screen. At times like this, using the external mouse does not bring the pointer back. I literally struggle (no jokes!) With the ball to bring the mouse back into focus, and click on the links i need, or i use keyboard commands. This problem is really compounded when there are multiple windows open, the windows either start replicating, resizing or closing. Mostly this is so infuriating that i shut the system down. I use the power off button since because of all the activity on the screen, i am not even able to shut down. When i start up again, things are back to normal, well at least for sometime! Any suggestions?

Huge Mouse Cursor In World Of Warcraft

Since upgrading to a 5870 card, whenever i play wow my mouse cursor increases in size to about double the normal size. If i turn off hardware cursor in wow it goes back to normal. The second that i put the wotlk disk in and started the installer the cursor in windows 7 increased in size just like it did in the game itself !

Hard Drive Makes Computer Lock Up

I have an extra hard drive with some backups on it that i need to get to, no os anymore. Usually i leave it in a box unplugged. When i tried hooking it up last night it made itself the master drive, and so i couldn't start xp. It dosn't have a regular thing for changing from master to slave, so i don't know what to do?

I used to be able to start up xp with my main drive, then plug that one in and xp would automatically detect it, but now i scaned it with partition software and it has some errors in the fat, so i can't do anythng with it there. So when i'm in xp and i plug it in, the system just locks up untill i unplug it. It tries to detect the settings but can't i guess. So, how can i access this harddrive?

I was trying to run checkdisk on it but i think i need it on a disk i'm not too knowledgeable with dos.

Mouse Cursor Random Movement Horizontally Across The Screen

I have been having this problem for the past few months. The mouse cursor just flies across the screen to and from horizontally. This problem stopped when i installed a internal modem but started again when i removed it. The motion stops when i disconnect the mouse when the computer is running. So the problem most probably lies with the mouse, mouse cable, or mouse connector. I need to narrow down the source of the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that.

Mouse Issues When Move The Cursor In A Diagonal Direction

Okay so i've been trying to figure this out for a couple of days and my mouse has been really bothering me. Prior to my reformat, my razor diamondback performed flawlessly. After i reformatted my computer a couple of days ago (with a real version of winxp mind you), it would have problems when i tried to move the cursor in a diagonal direction. Before the reformat, when i moved my cursor in a diagonal direction (regardless of speed) it would smoothly move diagonally; after the reformat however, the cursor would either move down then to the side or to the side then down instead of smoothly moving diagonally like before. All the drivers have been installed (the same ones that i used before) and nothing has been physically changed. It's driving me crazy because i now have to spend extra time trying to aim the cursor to click the right button when before it would take less than a second. I've also tried to use the other usb ports on my computer as well with the same result, my logitech mx revolution also has the same problem albeit less noticeably so i'm using that for now. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Mouse Cursor Shoots Towards The Left Upper Of The Screen

When i'm scrolling around the screen, the cursor pauses as it heads/directed towards the the left or left upper side of the screen. It starts to studder and with like the power of lighten somethings shoots towards the left upper 1/3 of the screen and crashes the system. No blue screen of death, and if any animation is playing it continues to play, but there is no response from the mouse nor keyboard and the only thing that works is the off button

Anyone heard of this crazyness b4. I know a moth can crash a system (hence the term computer bug :p) , but a mouse doing this is strange.

Monitor Goes Dark Then Returns, Mouse Cursor Freezes Afterwards

I believe it is a thermal problem with the video card, but i'm not sure. After the box has been on for 30-60 minutes (or so) the monitor goes dark for a second then returns. This happens a few times and if it really gets bad (more frequent) the dark periods get longer that the monitor goes into standby mode then returns with the mouse cursor frozen that i have to reboot to get it back. I know it's not the monitor, it's the video card not sending a signal to it and somehow also locking up the mouse (keyboard is ok). This happened after installing s/w for a hp s20 photo scanner, but i don't think that is the problem because on my other bootable drive (in the same box) the problem is there but not as bad. It might be making it worse, but i don't think it is that easy. I'm also not sure it is the card itself, though it is the card that is not sending the video signal to the monitor.

Computer Makes Clicking Noise - No Output To Monitor

I moved my computer in its original shipping box & styrofoam. It experienced freezing weather inside a moving truck along with everything else, and then spent a month in climate controlled storage upon arrival (from florida to nebraska). The pc was built by all american computers just before the company folded. It is a "purexs. "

I took it out and found the floppy drive was loose inside of it. Naturally, that concerned me. I had completely forgotten that when i installed it i didn't put screws in, just used the finger-tightness of the bay. It was secure enough to not move as i packed it, but apparently not secure enough for the long haul. I plugged everything in (dual dvi ports to the two ati x1900 xt's, power cable, mouse & keyboard) that it required to boot and powered it on. The fans all power on, and the 1st videocard fan cools down a bit as it's supposed to, but immediately there is a light clicking noise, quite rapid. The whole system lights up but the lcd monitor never registers any output - the light stays orange. The noise appears to be coming from the back of the motherboard near the power supply, which is actually inverted at the bottom of the case (due to the lian-li case's air circulation system). I slowed the back fan and tapped the cpu fan to see if that interrupted the noise at all, and it didn't. Yes, i know that's dangerous, but i've worked with plenty of computers - i don't hold the fan down a whole second, just slow it for less than a second - enough time to hear any change in the noise. While i'm a junior level pc & network technician (by trade i'm a web programmer and graphic designer - yes i draw freehand), at my old job i had tons of parts (not the caliber that is in this pc) and just swap out what's broken for what isn't, and in the worst case, repeat this several times until i find the offending part (usually i can tell).

Computer Makes High Pitched Ringing Noise

I am extremely sensitive to high pitched noises, and my computer has started making one that is driving me insane. It is very slight, and i can only hear it from certain angles, but it is defiantly there and it will not go away. What i have tried:

- Restarting the machine (the sound went away when it turned off)

- Blocking every fan for a few seconds to see if they were making the noise (they are not)

- Tried listening for the sound with a tube to isolate the part making it (didn't help since tubes don't bounce sound very well) though i did find which area the component is in. I believe it is a part on the board making this noise, and that is making me even angrier since i do not understand how or why a part on the board can generate such a sound. Can anyone assist me in fixing this, i know there was another person who had this issue before, but his went away magically. Hopefully mine does too, but i wouldn't count on it. If it matters, i am using a foxconn blackops board.

Mouse Cursor Regulary Drifts And Shoots Randomly Across The Screen

Any optical mice that perform flawlessly? Im currently on my fourth optical mouse. Ive sent back three and am about to send back this new one which is a packard bell optical mouse. With all four ive experienced the same problems. The cursor regulary drifts and shoots randomly across the screen making it impossible to play games and internet surfing is touch and go as i often click pop-ups by accident. This just isnt on when will a company address this problem. The market has been almost completely taken over. Usb Ball Mouse Cursor Randomly Jump Around The Screen

Basically, what's happening is, from time to time (usually every minute or so) my cursor will randomly jump around and hug the sides of my computer screen. I can move it vertically, but any attempt to move it any other way either doesn't work or causes it to jump around again. It's just recently started doing this (about two or three hours ago; i was using photoshop with my graphics tablet), and it even moves around when my mouse is unplugged or disabled, and disconnecting from the internet changes nothing. I've tried updating my drivers, even uninstalling them and letting windows reinstall the basics ones. I have uninstalled my tablet's drivers as well. Both avg and spybot turned up blank when i had them run scans, and i've gone through every option in the mouse menus, adjusting speed, precision, etc.computer is a desktop. Windows vista home premium 32bit, usb ball mouse.

Usb Laser Mouse Cursor Whizz On Upper Right Of Screen

I recently purchased a new computer for a decent amount of cash but the mouse is acting weird. When you pick up a laser mouse the laser generally dims so that the cursor doesnt' freak. But my laser doesnt dim so if i pick it up to move it the cursor whizzes to the upper right of the screen. This is very annoying for gaming and generally everything else, however, the mouse works fine in my laptop. Im not exactly sure of the brand but im thinking logitech keyboard/mouse combo. It says aspire on it, if thats means anything.

Keyboard / Mouse Freeze On Xp

The mouse always works until you try to type something, and then the keyboard and mouse quit working. The computer itself is not frozen. Sometimes the computer has to be restarted 5+ times to get it to work right. Do you think it is an issue with the keyboard, or the ps/2 ports? I could not find a virus. It has a cheap lite-on keyboard and roswill mouse.

Mouse Suddenly Freeze

It's been almost a week that i'm having this weird problem. All of a sudden, i can't get *any* mouse to work. It seems to work fine when i boot up, but it's just a matter of time till it stops responding!

The first time the problem showed up with my regular ps2 mouse. I was browsing some site and the mouse suddenly froze. After a while it comes back, the cursor goes berserk for a few seconds, and from then on no response. It just wouldn't work. The whole system seemed to work fine though. I restarted, and the mouse was dead right from the start. Luckily enough, i remembered i had another one somewhere, a newer usb optical mouse. (Ms intellimouse optical with a cable) so, i swap mice using usb this time, boot up, the mouse works fine for a couple of minutes and suddenly "dies on me" too! The red light under the mouse disappears too. If i restart, sometimes it will work (but -again- only for a minute or two) but usually it doesn't even flash its light as it's supposed to do when it's being initialized. If i shut down and switch on, it always works in the start, but it's just a matter of time till it stops responding again. The problem is very weird because it happens with 2 different mice on two different kinds of ports (ps2 and usb), so this leaves no room for the chance that either one of the ports, or any of the mice, is broken! Other devices work great on the very same usb ports where the mouse hangs!

Sometimes when it stops working i get a notification from windows that a usb device has malfunctioned and is no more recognisable. No matter what, the mouse disappears from the hardware list. Of course i've tried uninstalling the mouse and let the windows reinstall it, and updated the drivers but it's no good. The problem persists. I've also noticed that it stops working only if you're moving it around. If you don't touch it at all, it seems ok. The red light works, it will point, it will click. But after a short while it dies again - as if some buffer overruns or something. Furthermore, if you were holding down one of its buttons when it hangs, windows is tricked into believing it's still down, and won't even allow certain keyboard keys to work too! I hate this when it happens!

I wrote a dos-based program that calls the actual hardware interrupt to access the mouse directly, it seems to initialize successfully, displays the pointer but it's dead again as usual. However it's not in real dos environment, (it's only xp's console mode dos) so i don't know if this is actually mapped to the windows driver instead. Sorry if this was long, but i'm really frustrated; i can hardly use my computer. I've tried virtually *everything*. I want to avoid a format because the problem looks so weird, that i'm not quite sure if it's going to help. I found a few threads describing similar problems, but no solution was found in any of them. My hardware is an intel p4 at 2. 4ghz on an asus p4pe m/b, running xp pro sp2, 512mb ddr in one bank. I've never had any hardware conflicts whatsoever and i haven't installed any new hardware lately. Doublechecked for viruses/spyware etc, nothing suspicious. All i can think of is my power supply box (350w, got it a month ago) but mice generally require minimum power, i don't see how it could be an issue. I also downloaded a freeware program that monitors voltages/temperatures and stuff, and it all looks perfectly regular. No weird spikes in the graphs when the mouse hangs or anything. Anyone got any idea?

Mouse Pointer Freeze Intermittently

Well, i just finished my new build and it seems the only issue i have now is that my mouse pointer will freeze intermittently. I cannot go more than 30 seconds without my mouse pointer stopping dead in its tracks for between 3-10 seconds at a time. During this time, my keyboard still functions, applications/games are still running normally, and i am still able to tab around/enter data in various fields without issue. With the help of process explorer, i've deduced that my system is infect not hanging, nor is the mouse freezing up as a result of cpu utilization/poling activity. It's a clean install of vista home premium x64, evga classified 760, latest whql drivers off evga.com, and the mouse is a wireless logitech g7. - The mouse works fine when used on my laptop (not a connection/battery issue)
- I've tried it with and without logitech's setpoint utility installed. - I've utilized every usb port with no change in behavior. - I've tried changing the vista theme from aero to classic to basic. - I have not tried a wired mouse as of yet (will later today)

Anyone have any ideas or something else to try?
