Can't Find Boot Device - Mbr Is Bad On C

I just added a new slave drive to my old computer yesterday. The drive has xp on it, i just haven't formatted it yet. After i plugged in in using cs i rebooted and for some reason my computer booted from that drive, which is now called e:. My master drive is still there and looks to be fine. I went into bios and changed my boot options and hdd options so that it would boot my c: drive first. Now when it goes to boot the c: drive it gives me an error saying that their is nothing to boot. If i have my cd drive plugged in it tries to boot that but says nothing is there. So anyway, for some reason i think my mbr is bad on my c:. I really don't want to format or anything. What would be the best way to fix this issue? I have the ultimate boot cd, should i just pop in xp and fix the mbr? Last time i had this issue i think i ended up reinstalling xp which was a pain.

Failed To Find A Suitable Display Device

Anytime i try to start a game, such as wow or sims 3 or wc3, it simply won't start, and i get an error message like "failed to find a suitable display device. Exiting program" or "can not find a video card that is supported. " I have the newest drivers, and there are no yellow exclamation-marks in the device manager. I've tried reinstalling my graphics card, but nothing changed.

Message: Reboot & Select Boot Device Or Insert Boot Media

I built my first computer about 2 weeks ago but have noticed a problem. When i turn the computer on it shows the motherboard screen and stays there for approx 15-20 seconds. Then it goes into a black screen stating that i need to "reboot & select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. "

I am a bit confused on what this means. If i restart the computer while it shows the message it starts up with no problems. What can i do to have this message no appear as i power on my computer? Also during the shift from one screen to another, the screen blinks in green and other colors. What can this be? Can it be that i have my lcd tv connected to my computer with a dvi to hdmi cable?Besides these issues, everything seems to run great, no overheating at all.

Computer Wont Boot / No Longer Find Hard Drives

Ok i've totally ruined my computer, messing about with it trying to get the internet to work better on it i decided to format the hard drives and install windows from scratch. Done this before in the office at work and it was simple enough. Anyways i did it and now when my computer boots it says it can no longer find my hard drives, so cant install windows or do anything. It just keeps going round in circles and every time ends up at the same point saying windows cant find any hard drives to install to and restarts. Anyone know what i can do?

Inaccessible Boot Device

Where do i start?

I'm getting the fatal blue screen with the message "inaccessible boot device". I've tried everything. Cables are okay. Bios detects the hard disk. Seatools' diagnostic program detects the partitions. But i can't access it in any way to run a 'chkdsk' on it or to scan it for viruses. Hdd re-generator detects it and runs a scan for bad sectors for a while. But the system restarts or shuts down before completing the scan. I installed another hard disk so i could recover data and/or scan it for errors. But when my 'cursed' hard disk is connected to the system, nothing happens. No progress.

Usb Device Cause Computer To Freeze Or Not To Boot

I have recently been having issues left and right with my computer freezing or not given booting. I got it mainly fixed but i found out something strange. It would appear when i had my card reader connected and my wireless usb adapter connected (with the usb cord connected) the computer would either freeze while loading the os or not even boot at all. When the card reader was connected i had a 2gb sd card in it and for some reason the card wasn't being detected at all and vista wasn't even detecting the card reader till after maybe 5min. After plugging it in. Also, the other strange thing is when i had my usb wireless adapter plugged in with the usb cord the computer wouldn't even boot or it would freeze like above. When i finally just connected the wireless adapter by itself windows loaded fine with no freeze/lock ups (and yes, i don't have the card reader connected right now). Idk but i'd hate to say this but would it be a psu issue? I was playing l4d and killing floor fine last night with my xfx 4850 oc'ed. What is going on here? Side note: has the latest ati drivers been causing anybody any issues lately? Like lock ups or anything? At first though i thought it was the oc'ing from catalyst causing the issue but i guess it wasn't.

Error - Reboot And Select Proper Boot Device

I had a few problems getting pc to run (namely, i somehow lost the jumper for the bios pins on the motherboard. Because i had no jumper, it kept running in recovery mode. Took me a while to figure out, too). I don't know if it matters, but i popped out the battery as some instructions stated. I waited ten minutes and then placed the battery back, positive side up, which is what i remembered it being before i removed it. I only did that because i was at a loss at what else could be done to get the system running. Now, the system boots up fine and recognizes all devices, except. The problem is that after the post, an error pops up. "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device"

I had made a floppy that had the upgraded bios on it and had stuck it in the system before powering it up. I know the floppy works, because it worked on another system. I tried installing windows xp without the upgraded bios to see if it would work, and it did. I suppose that means that the cd drive works, but i have no way to tell if the floppy drive does. From what i can see in the [f2] bios setup utility, it is recognized. I don't see why the floppy drive wouldn't work. After all, it's just a floppy drive, with power & connection to mobo. The boot order is floppy, hard drive, cd-rom. And no matter what i do, the computer keeps throwing the error at me.

This is a very serious problem and is preventing me from accessing my os x.

No Bootable Device Insert Boot Disk Press Any Key Hp

The day before yesterday, i turned off the pc using windows vista menu > shut down. When i turned it on, after the hp logo, it shows a black screen with the following error: no bootable device - insert a boot disk and press any key. I already tried to load bios setup defauts, did memory and primary hard disk self tests (they were ok), changed the boot order (f10), but the error message persists. I did the reset procedure, which i unplugged the battery and the ac charger and keep the power button pressed for 6 seconds, but it didn't worked either. I tried the (f11) recovery mode, but the error message persists (i do not have the recovery discs to boot from the disc). I tried to boot from windows xp disc but it stays forever on the press any key to start from the cd message. I tried to boot it using another os cd (ubuntu) but it asks to update the bios. I do not have vista dvd (it did not come with the pc). What else can be done? How can i solve this problem?

Insert Media In Selected Boot Device And Press A Key

In brief i used killdisk to wipe my hard drive which worked fine its been wiped clean. (My laptop does not have a floppy drive)

Now when i load my laptop up it comes up in a dos kind of environment and displays the following:

"Intel undi, pxe-2. 0 (build 082)
Copyright (c) 1997-2000 intel corporation

Sis900 pxe bootrom v1. 09 hook int19

Cliet max addr: 00 03 0d 28 fc 91 guid: 00020003-0004-0005-0006-000700080009
Pxe-e51: no dhcp or proxydhcp offers were received. Pxe m0f: exiting intel pxe rom

Reboot and select proper boot device
Or insert media in selected boot device and press a key"

Again i have been in then bios settings and changed the priority to load the cd 1st, i also presume by device they are referring to my cd drive. I tried to put fdisk on and format but i now think i may of put them onto cd wrong. Anybody heard of how to get out of this then tell me, i am on a desktop at the minute and yes i can put files onto cd if needed but only program i have managed to load so far from reboot via cd is killdisk.

Writing Mbr Over Network

I recently deleted a ubuntu partition on my laptop which also has vista and a recovery partition installed. However, now grub gives me an error as there are now no settings installed on the harddrive. Is it possible to write the mbr over a lan connection, i.e. Loading a program using the netboot method. I want to do this so i can restore the computer back to its original vista boot settings. I have a win2k3 server machine running on the lan.

Partition Change ( Mbr ) In Avg

I started up my computer and did a virus scan with avg(as i usual do) and it said there was a partition change(mbr)in the test result, i thought that was strange but thought it may have been a corrupt file or something and didn't think any more of it. Then about an hour later i went to play bf2 and when i clicked the bf2 desktop icon to start the game it said please put disc into cdrom so i opened up my cdrom and noticed the disc was already in it. I then went to my computer and it had no cdrom drive detected, so i rebooted my computer and when it went to restart it got stuck on the bios logo screen. I then turned off my computer for a minute or two and turned it back on and now everything is working normal again and my cdrom is now detected? Also i don't get a partition change(mbr) in avg anymore.could it be a virus? Could my motherboard be craping out on me(it is a new computer 2 months old) one other thing is i left my window open where my computer sits by and it rained out last night, i didn't notice and wetness on it but could any moisture have caused the error?

Can't Boot From Sata Cdrom And Can't Find Sata Hd

Last night i built my dad a new computer, with two sata dvd-drives (but can only connect one with one of my sata cables. Apparently the motherboard manufacturer only likes to include one sata cable. My fault for ordering oem and not checking on the cable quantity. ), A wd sata hard drive and an ecs nforce 570 slit-a motherboard. Anyway, when i boot up with the windows xp cd in the dvd drive, it won't detect the drive and boot from the cd. Ok, i thought i might have that problem (never dealt with sata drives besides hd's), so i just plugged in an ide cdrom, but now it won't find the hd.

I've put raid drivers from ecs on a disk as well as wd sata drives on a disk and hit f6 when prompted in the winxp boot screen. The ecs drivers did nothing for me and the wd drivers said something about it being corrupt or something of the sort (sorry, can't remember exactly. So i've had no luck. I've also tried plugging in the original ide hd from his old computer but it immediately restarts when it should start loading windows. I had to go to sleep because i have work today, so i didn't fiddle around with it too much more than what i've explained above, and that's where i am now so i won't get to try anything for awhile.

Bad Drive Or Bad Controller ?

I have a dell poweredge server that is running 5 drives in raid 5. This morning i get an error message and the wording isn't too clear. Perc 4/di controller 0, array disk 0:4 failed
Perc 4/di controller 0, virtual disk (virtual disk 0) degraded

So i look at my array manager and sure enough the 5th drive has failed. My question is, based on the error message, does this mean the controller itself is also having problems or was the drive the only problem?

Can't Boot With Cd Rom / Fix Boot.ini

I have a toshiba satelite laptop with windows xp on it. While copying files over the network onto it i got the blue screen with white letters. I had to do a "hard shut down" to turn it off. When i tried to turn it back on it would start to boot and as it begins to load i get the option to boot in normal or safe mode (both give the same result). After the windows xp logo shows i get another screen that says invalid boot.ini, i searched the error on google and i found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330184

Ok great! I have the cd i put it in the drive, but it won't boot on the cd, also i tried pressing f everything, delete, esc yadah to get into the bios to make sure its set to boot up on a cd before the hard drive. But nothing seems to work. Does anyone know something else i might be able to try to get the boot.ini reset / uncorrupt or get it to boot up by the cd?

How To Find Router Password?

Answer:- assuming you mean the network encryption key needed to use the network rather than the password needed to log into the router's administration pages, if it isn't on a label on your modem or router, the likeliest place to find it is in those admin pages. Exactly where in those pages varies from brand to brand. If you don't have a router, the following should apply to your modem itself. Basically, to get into the admin pages, do this:

1. On a computer connected to a wired port on your router (wireless access to the admin pages should be turned off as a security risk), enter the router's local ip address in your browser's address window. 2. Poke around, especially under wireless security, until you find the encryption key.copy it down exactly.copy-and-pasting it into a text file (wordpad is generally best because it's on almost all windows machines) is even better, as it can be copy-and-pasted from there into whatever needs it. When you see it, you'll understand why this is a good idea. To find your routers ip address in windows:

4. Click on the start->run button. 5. In the text box, type

Cmd

And press enter. 6. A black "dos box" will pop up. In it, enter

Ipconfig /all

A bunch of gibberish will fill the box. Next to "default gateway" an ip address will appear. This is your router's ip address.

Where To Find Server Technicians?

I am a recruiter at a staffing agency - and i'm pretty new. Knowing that yahoo! Answers is a pretty valuable resource, i was hoping someone here could help me out in searching to fill a server technician position. I'm looking for people with a+, server+, oem certifications, and blade experience. I've posted a few ads and i've run database searches for resumes but have found few people with the experience i need (the certifications above plus 7 years minimum experience). We need them to work on servers such as dell poweredge rack mount servers and hp proliant rack mount and blade servers. I am particularly looking for people in the delaware area - so if anyone knows of any place these guys meet up online (such as organizations) in that area, it would be very helpful!

Or is there any good resource out there, where a lot of these people could see my ads?

I'm doing my research on this job, but i thought one of you might be able to help me too!

How To Find What Driver For Ethernet Connection ?

How do i find out what driver i need for my ethernet connection?

Answer:-

If you have windows 7, you can go to start. Then search for "device manager". From there, check to see if there are any yellow triangles. If any are the network card (ethernet/nic) then right-click and hit "update" and tell windows to search online for it. You can also go to your computer manufacturer's site and look up your model as they should have a copy of the original drivers that came with your computer. If this was installed for you and is not original, its a little more complicated, you can try the windows part in the first paragraph but if it doesn't, feel free to msg me and i can explain how to go about it.
