Game Port To Usb Converter

After looking though some past joystick posts, i believe this is the correct forum for my question, sorry if i get it wrong; new to these boards. The problem:
I have an old (windows 98 era) microsoft sidewinder 3d pro joystick. My system does not have a gameport(sound is onboard motherboard). I have a gameport-to-usb adapter that was lent to me(unknown: manufacturer, driver requirements, system requirements). There is a new device under sound, video, and game contollers in the device manager that wasn't there before. I'm dead positive its the adapter. Its called unknown device( properties tab: no drivers installed, details tab: device instance id is rootmedia

3.5 Mm To Usb Converter

I am looking for something like this :

I saw it comes with these headphones :

http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=n82e16826265067

The reason why i want it is because on the new 13" mbp it doesn't have a microphone input on it just a headphone output. And windows vista on it recognizes the built in microphone but for some reason, any of my other programs won't (common problem looked up, other peoples' skype won't work, and my ventrilo doesn't recognize my microphone). I am just looking for the adapter because, i don't really want that headset because the mic doesn't detach from those headsets. So yeah.

Mic To Usb Converter Headphones

I recently bought a sennheiser 350 which has a mic, unfortunately for my sound card, it only has a digital line in/mic jack which is shared. I am already using the digital line in jack so there is no room for my mic to be plugged in. Enabling the mobo sound-card causing some weird sound issues to make the mic work. So i am wondering if any of you know a good mic to usb converter or some sort of y adapter to share the two. Thanks in advance!

Trackball Explorer Jumpy After Using Usb To Ps2 Converter

I have this 1-yr old microsoft trackball explorer 1. 0. It was doing great, until recently i needed a mouse for my other computer. I used the usb-to-ps2 converter on this trackball, and i think it messed it up inside. The mouse cursor is now jumping around and becomes "unplayable". It says it's ps2/usb compatible on the bottom of the mouse. I use the latest mouse driver from microsoft and cleaned the trackball. I wonder is there a "fix" available?

Connect Parallel Print Server To A Usb Printer Using Converter Cable

Can you connect a parallel print server to a usb printer using some kind of parallel to usb converter cable? I have recently bought a new printer, which has a usb interface on it. But in the past, i've been using a printer with a parallel interface. I have been using a print server with a parallel port on it to connect to my old printer (which has the parallel interface) but obviously, i cannot connect this print server to my new printer, simply because it has a usb interface. Therefore, my question is, if i buy a parallel to usb converter cable and connect my new usb printer via the converter to the print server, will it work?

When i hook it up, it recognizes, then says it can perform faster on a usb 2. 0 port then goes away, and repeats this process over and over. I can never actually access it or see it in my computer. I also constantly hear the noise of a usb device being turned on and off.

Usb Game Controllers Problem On A Windows Xp Machine

Iím having some problems with some usb game controllers on a windows xp machine. First off iíll start by saying both controllers work fine on other machines tested them, both on two different machines(one was xp, one was server 2003). The first controller is a saitek p2550 and when plugged into this particular computer it works fine other than the z-axis is stuck in the up position, the second controller (and the one i really want to get working) is a red octane ignition dance mat v3. 0. When plugged in 50% of the time it reports there is a problem with the device, the other 50% it registers a few delayed button presses then dies. I have the official saitek drivers for my gamepad, and the well there arenít any drivers for the dance mat, it supposed to be completely plug and play. - Iíve attempted uninstalling the drivers for both devices. - Iíve tried uninstalling my usb and usb2 host controllers(then scanning for new hardware to reinstall them)

- Iíve tried updating to the newest intel chipset software for my motherboard(asus p4p800)

- Iíve tried disconnecting every other usb device(and no i donít have both controllers connected at the same time)

Both come up as usb human interface devices and hid-compliant game controllers in the device manager, my other usb hidís work fine(mouse, scanner, webcam), just game controllers work wrong. Both show up correctly labelled in the game controllers view. Anyone have any ideas what else to try?

Usb Conflict - Message: Game Controller Not Responding

I got a usb joystick for my birthday (see "my gaming controller don't work" under gaming equipment subforum) and it doesn't work. I don't think my usb ports are screwed up because all my other usb devices work fine. In fact, windows detects the stick but then says: game controller not responding why? How does it see it in the first place if it doesn't work? And why is it doing this?

Keyboard / Mouse Not Recognized After Driver Upgrade For Usb Game Controller

I had a mobo upgrade 2 months ago. I run windows xp. I installed vista transormation pack 2 weeks ago. Everything was running fine untill i decided to upgrade the driver for my usb connected game controller. After restart, windows booted fine but can't used keyboard or mouse. Both were connected through ps2 ports. Tried disconnecting them and connecting them again, power down and few other things but no success. I then also tried using usb connected mouse and it does not work. I tried repairing windows installation with xp cd but i can not select i agree tab upon repair reboot (basically cant still use keyboard and mouse), leaving me with no choice but to make fresh install.

Usb Port Replicator

I'm wondering if anyone sells an actual port replicator, vs a hub (eg 4 female ports on the device and 4 male plugs to connect to the back of the pc). I know mono-price sells male a to female a cables, but i'd rather have a single medium size cable instead of one extra thick 'cable' made by braiding/heat shrink tubing 4 separate cables together.

Are There Limitations To Using Usb Port On A Pc ?

In a nutshell i'm wondering if i'm simply over-loading my usb hub or maybe the quality of the extension cable is causing interference. I have apprx. 5m & 3m usb extension cables coupled together that runs from the back of my pc to where i'm sitting. A usb powered small hub is attached to the end of this. On the hub, i connect a wireless dongle for my keyboard, bluetooth dongle that connects to a mobile phone, headset and mouse (sometimes), wireless dongle for a mouse, charger for my headset, data cable for my mobile phone and any storage device that i'd like access to such as a micro flash card reader. Are there limitations to using one usb port on a pc or a certain extension cable length?

The reason for thinking that it maybe because of the quality of the cable is that when i plug in a wired headset to one of the ports, there's a load of interference coming through the earphones - i do not know if this is because there's too much traffic on the cable or the signal gets weak because of the cable length or the lack of any quality. Can the problem be solved if i attach the optional power inlet to the mains?

I hope someone can help please because i rely entirely on this!

7 Port Powered Usb Hub

I've been trying to find a good powered usb 2. 0 7 port hub. Everything i find either has some strange shape that looks, for lack of a better word, stupid or has all the ports on the front of the hub. All i'm looking for is a normal shaped hub (square box) with all ports (including power) on the back. The only thing i want on the front are indicator lights or nothing. Years ago i used to see them all the time but now they all have some or all ports on the front or are some funky shape. I need it to be powered since i'll be plugging a few items into it that obtain their power from the usb port (g15, g9, n52te, etc. ). I also have a usb mic but its usb 1. 1 and would need a hub where having a 1. 1 device plugged in won't affect the high speed of the 2. 0 devices (if they even make such a hub). I have a few other items but they are just data or have their own external power source (ups link to the pc etc. ).

Moving Device To Different Usb Port

Is anyone else having this problem? I have 6 usb 2. 0 ports and a 4x hub plugged into one of them, and if move any device from one usb port to another, windows thinks i'm plugging in a new device, and needs to go through the whole process of installing both the drivers and the software (in correct order yada yada) each time this is done. I have 4 cables plugged into the 4 main usb ports, and everytime i unplug them all to open the case, i never know which ones went in which one so i whack them all back in, boot up, and have to go through settings them all up again!

Mini Usb Port Broken

Ok so i have a 1. 5 tb western digital my essential and the part where u connect the mini-usb into the hard drive, broke off. Took off the enclosure and saw that the little piece broke off the board that connect onto the hard drive. Well i decided instead of buying a new enclosure il just connect the hard drive into my computer. Did that and when i started the computer it didn't show the hard drive so i had to do some searching and found out how to make it show. Well when i try to open it it says "d: is not accessible the volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted" then it asks if i want to format. And obviously i don't want to since i have over 700gb of data on there. Any idea how to make it work properly with my computer? Or suggest a free software that i can grab the data off the hard drive?

Usb Port Speed Identifying Program

My asus p5q should have usb 2. 0 ports, at least all of the 6 on the rear panel, but using some with my linksys wusb54g makes winxp give me *** about not being 2. 0 ports and how i should check the list to use another. However it's not east to tell which ports are which. It would be cool if there was a program which presented usb ports and devices in a hierarchy, visually and showed you what was where. Or at the very least, i need something that spells out very clearly which ports are 1. 1 and which are 2. 0 just seeing an "enhanced" controller isn't helping.

Usb Devices Need To Have Drivers Installed For Each Port ?

Now i'm almost positive that this is incorrect, but apparently this is the situation on my parents winblows xp boxes. Two devices, a business card scanner and a usb wireless card. I plug the device in, install the driver, device works fine. I unplug the device, and plug it into one of the other usb ports, and windows prompts to install a driver again? I had to install the driver twice, once for each usb port? Now, that cannot be right, is it?

I'm just starting to learn how to write usb drivers on linux, and from what i have read so far, everytime a device gets plugged into the usb host controller, one of your drivers functions gets called to see if it is the device that it controls. If it is, you would update w/e state needs to be updated in your driver and carry on. Isn't that the whole great thing about usb? That u can plug in devices willynilly, add more hubs, etc. ?
