Lost Data During Xp Pro Install
I'm trying to install xp pro back onto my system after a format of my 40gb master. It gets stuck at p3.sys. The disc is kinda scratchy so i am buying a new one (my dad gets academic prices). In the boot / formatting screen of xp pro, it says my 80gb slave is empty. I have evertyhing backuped there and never touched it with anything. Faulty read? There is nothing to my knowledge that would have formated it. I have over 50gb of music and all my important backups there, i sure as ***, hope i didnt loose it.

Lost Card Reader Drives When Install External Hard Drive
Just started playing with a new medion 8825 multimedia computer. While trying to install an external hard drive, i somehow lost the card reader drives. These were listed in my computer as drives e, f and g for the three slots of the reader. Now they are gone. In my ignorance, i was attempting to use the safely remove feature of vista. At one time, there was a small flag that said "safely remove mass storage(the external drive i was working on) and drive e, f and g. I clicked on this flag, and the e, f, and g drives disappeared from my computer. How do i recover them? Is it a problem of installing new drivers? Is tis a software or hardware problem?

"no Hard Disk" Error On Xp Install
My notebook came installed with vista, which of course had to go. When trying to install xp i received a "no hard disk" error. The hd in the laptop is a sata drive, hence the error. As the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive i tried slipstreaming the drivers onto the bootable windows xp installation cd but to no avail - i tried it both manually and with nlite. Disk Boot Failure. Insert System Disk And Press Enter
Just built my first pc and configured the bios etc and get the following message:
Boot from atapi cd-rom
Disk boot failure. Insert system disk and press enter. I think this means that i have to insert a boot disk for the cd-rom drive into the floppy disk drive, to install the drivers for it. Can someone confirm this? Also my cd drive is a philips 52x32x52 cd-rw which came with no floppy disks for installation at all, so i am not sure how i can setup the cd drive without an operating system etc.

I'm just usng my computer as a normal computer user would use one's computer. Surfing the web, instant messaging programs and the like, then my main harddrive makes a low click sound, then a slightly higher click sound after about half a second, then windows stops responding, then less than a second after my system achieves full lockup. So i'm like, ok, that's weird, and i reboot. I boot into bios and make sure it's not set to turn off the harddrives for any reason, and when i see that it isn't and there are no other wonky settings, i boot windows (xp pro sp2 .net) into safemode and just to make sure, start a virus scan, while that's working i look and make sure drive indexing is turned off (it isnf't on the main drive, so i turn it off) and that power save things are set to always on, and that's all ok, so while i'm waiting for the virus scan to finish, it does the click thing again, locks up, so i'm like *** and i reboot again, this time it gets to the ascii loading bar before the animated startup screen before the login prompt, and it does the click thing and stops, so i reboot again, and this time it gets to "verifying dmi pool data. " After detecting the drives and whatnot, does the click thing and stops right there, then after a minute or so i see "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". So i sit there getting madder by the second and press enter, then it gives me a blank screen and that message again, and that's where it sits right now as i type this (but once i post i'll turn it off)
So i was running a virus scan, avg free edition, and it scanned the registry and the mbr for viruses and didn't find any, so i dunno, this either is a virus that i don't have a definition for, or some random progressive hardware failure, or my computer decided to crap out on me randomly.

Lost Pictures
I have a friends computer and i backed up all his pictures on my little zip drive. My retarted *** didnt seem to double check the zip to see if the pics sent to it but when i checked it this morning everything was on there except for the pics . I reformated the hd and i need to find a way to recover the pics asap. Does anyone know of a good data recovery program i can use to recover these pictures back. Can i still recover them even if i deleted the partition?

Pc Just Lost Power ?
I was just playing guild wars online and suddenly my pc completely lost power. One minute i was fighting and the next, my whole pc was turned off. What could cause this?
I checked the cpu temperature straight after this happened and it was 61c, the motherboard temp was 41c but this looks fine right? I was playing a game.graphics card runnning at 54c idle although i am not sure what temperature it was running at when this happened. Usually while gaming it doesn't go higher than 85.

Lost Internet Because Of Storm
How can i fix my router so i can connect wirelessly again? I recently lost internet because of a storm. I didn't know about the storm, so when i lost it, i ran the installation disc of my netgear wireless - n 300 router to see if i gained back my internet. I didn't know a storm was happening while i was doing this, so now i am able to use it, except i can't connect wirelessly from my laptop nor my ipod touch.

Lost Hard Drive
I have a laptop, which has always been a good performer. It can handle simple tasks without a hard beat and has always been able to play some decent games as well. One of which i have recently tried was world of warcraft, anyway it hasn't got the harshest requirements and my laptop was able to play it pretty much smoothly on full (well all except viewing distance), and only had the occasional stutter when the graphics chip got a bit overwhelmed. Then the other week it completely froze which wasn't uncommon but then when i came back to my laptop a little later the entire thing had totally growned to a halt. Clicking my documents would take about 20 minutes to even recognize the input and even then it was unable to show any icons within the documents. I initially thought the graphics chip had had enough, but then if it was the graphics there would be more visual problems with the desktop which there were none. I thought about the processor due to it being slow but i ruled that out because i then decided to change the hard drive with my brothers laptop due to the being of roughly the same make it was a simple swap, and his hard drive and operating system worked as expected on my laptop and my operating system showed the same issues on his laptop as they had on mine hence i ruled it to be the hard drive. Now at this point i was due to go on holiday and i was *** about having lost my laptop which i used a lot for everything and just decided to lock it in a draw and think about getting a new one. Then i came back from holiday decided to give it one last chance and now the operating system is working exactly as it should except it seems to get choked up when there are a few windows/processes going on. The thing i want to know is, has anyone else had a similar problem to this?
Also is there any of checking that my hard drive physically broken or is it just the operating system/software that has gotten a little wild, causing the speed to slow. I have tried to remove all software from the hard drive, well the ones that i could do without and defragged it but that didn't do anything. I have a seagate 80gig and western digital 80gig hard drive. Both are run off one ata cable, using cable select and not master/slave. Both use ntfs system, both have the same xp home os on. Windows xp home reports that both are 74. 5 gig hard drives. I have approx. 2-3 gig worth of progs. On both drives. Here is my problem:
Drive c: 61 gig free space ( meaning 13gig used )

Where has all this space been used? I previously had power quest drive image 7 installed on f: and deleted the images, so reckon this is the problem. I have heard ' treesize pro ' will help me-how?

Lost Dvd Drives In My Computer
Lost both of my dvd drives after new build. Worked then stopped (seemed like when ever i use asus disk) happen twice both times with that disk. Any ways it would come up code 39 error. Would not start drives could not update drivers nothing. In device manager had yellow triangle. Lost alot of time messing with this. Anyways dont know if anyone else ever had this happen. But it sucks when you want to get your new build up and running. It might of been posted before but just in case here's the fix that worked for me. 1) hit start then type run, 2) then type in regedit & press enter
3) * check plus signs next to the following
*Hkey_local_machine
*System
*Current control set
*Control
*Class
*4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318
4) this folder is the dvd/cd-rom class description in registery. Look for any of the following
Names in the right column. *Upper filters
*Lower filters
*Upper filters.bak
*Lower filter.bak
5) if any of the above keys shown in 4 are listed delete them. 6) close registery editor
7) reboot
When starts back up check my computer and see if drives are now being listed. Now this worked for me. Had to delete lower filters now what caused this i dont know but i'm now able to install drivers games etc. Does any one know why this would happen never seen this before and hopefully never again.

Lost The Ability To Burn Dvds
First, nero 6. 6 says i need to install "burnrights" cause i don't have administrator privileges, and so i uninstalled it and tried nero 9 and got the same problem. So i installed two different dvd recording programs, cdburnerxp and infrarecorder, both of which can't detect my dvd burners. And now i just notice that dvd decrypter can't find them either. I have two burners, one sata and one ide which was working fine as of yesterday and now for some unknown reason, i can't burn anything. I can still use them to read data, and still burn a music cd with itunes. Weird huh?
I was recently hit with the trojan. Vundo. H virus but i don't think that's the culprit.

1 year ago i bought an hp printer officejet j6400. When i first bought it i installed the cd and everything. Yesterday i had to print out some files and it said "document failed to print". Lost Advent K1501 Drivers
Advent k1501 lost drivers after clean install. Unable to connect to internet so how/where can i download them? In device manager 802. 11bg wan, video controller and standard vga graphics adapter all have yellow triangle with ! Inside it alongside. Have gone into properties for each and clicked on install drivers - doesn't do anything.comes up with message to download from manufacturers website. Problem number one can't get onto internet problem 2 don't know what i am looking for and where.
