Pc Is Freezing 3 Minutes After Booting
Replies: 2 | Post Date: July 13th, 2006, 11:12 PM | User: Mrgrneyyez03 | Forums: forums.devshed.comMy pc is freezing 3 minutes after booting it. I just replaced the power suppy i found that the fan died-out! Could it be the processor or the hd? The processor is a p4 and the hd is only a 20gb. This computer worked flawless for more than 6 years. How can i check whats wrong with it? I dont think i have any spyware or a virus i have checked everywhere.

Pc Freeze After 1-10 Minutes In Win Xp
My rig has some very odd bootup problems. After it boots and starts, it will freeze after 1-10 minutes (in winxp) and i have to restart it and then it will run fine for hours or days. Does anybody know what could be the problem?

Windows Xp Loads In 30 Minutes
When i start my computer the intel motherboard screen comes up but the os does not load. I wait and wait but the os (windows xp sp2) won't load. I am forced to shut down (by pressing down the cpu button for a few seconds) and the funny thing is that after 30 minutes or so, the os loads as if nothing is wrong with my computer !

Computer Keeps Shutting Off After Few Minutes
My computer was working fine yesterday, all day, and now i can't have it on for more than 10 minutes without it randomly shutting down. It's not a problem with the wall socket because my monitor stays on the whole time, so i figure it's a problem with the tower. Here's what i've done since last night:
1. Put the side panel back on. 2. Moved it to my dorm room. I haven't checked for any loose connections, but that could be it. I figure either one/some of the connections is just barely hanging in, or one of the parts is overheating. That could be because either a heatsink misaligned in transit to my dorm or the side panel is cutting off ventilation.

Within 5 Minutes The System Freezes Up
Every time i turn it on, it boots up as normal. Usually within 5 minutes or so the system freezes up. Sometimes, the computer automatically restarts. Other times, the computer will freeze and, if i'm playing music, my speakers will emit a grinding noise, and i will have to manually turn it off. This usually happens between 1 and 3 times before the computer will turn on and be stable. Has anyone had a similiar problem? Any suggestions? I returned it to the store i bought it at and they were unable to fix it. I'm running a 1. 15 amd athlon with 256 mb ram.

Mouse Buttons Non Functional After 5 Or 10 Minutes
This past couple of days i've been reformatting and re-installing windows and tweaking my partition sizes. However, yesterday evening, after finishing loading up windows xp and in the middle of loading my programs my mouse buttons just stopped working for no apparent reason. The cursor movement works just fine but the buttons are non responsive. I reformated and reinstalled windows again this morning thinking everything will be fine but low and behold during my program load up the buttons packed up again after about 5 or 10 minutes. Any ideas?

Hard Disk Crashing On Every Five Minutes
My computer hangs. No warning, no messages, no extremely taxing problems. Just, hangs. Meaning. . My mouse can't move, my keyboard doesn't work. Everything is in stop time ( can't even use ctrl+atl+del) when my computer restarts, it shows that my primary master isn't detected. If i wiggle my ide cables around, it detects it. Now, here's the thing. The maxtor is a brand new hard drive, i had the same problem with my old western digital (40gb one) and i replaced it. I've tried changing my ide cables, and same problem. I've tried buying an ide controller card and same problem. Anyone with any idea on what i'm missing.

Pc Hangs And Takes 15 Minutes To Boot
Yesterday i formatted my pc, so i could add a smaller system drive, and then use 3 ide hdd's and 1 dvd-rw. Heres the setup i did:
Primary ide master - system drive
Primary ide slave - applications drive (empty)
Secondary ide master - docs drive (half full/half empty, up2u)
Secondary ide slave - dvd-rw
First boot from format, everything seemed snappy and fast, no problems. I started installing a few drivers, for nothing major, other than the nvidia hardware firewall on my dfi lanparty mb, and the basic mb drivers. Upon a required reboot, the machine now takes an immense 15 minutes to boot.

Computer Takes 6, 7 Minutes To Open
My monitor that came with my win98 dell computer, takes now about 6 or 7 minutes to open. I upgraded to winxp, it now takes about about 4 or 5 minutes. Someone suggested to test and find out if it's the monitor or the computer. I borrowed a laptop but didn't know how to do it. A kind person suggested the following:
"Right click on the screen, choose properties/settings/advanced, look for your graphic card or video card then you should see the 2 icons for the 2 monitors. Switch over to the main monitor from there by clicking on the monitor icon at the rear of the two and dragging it to the front. " I followed the above but didn't see any "graphic card or video card" so i'm stuck now.

Computer Locking Up Minutes After Starting
I'd been having a problem with crashing to blue screen and getting the error of "irql is not less or equal to" for about a year. Now for the past 3 days my computer has started completely freezing either as soon as my desktop shows or 10-15min after startup. The only major change i've done is adding a second hard drive last weekend. But as stated, i didn't start having this problem till about 3 days ago, so i'm pretty sure it isn't the additional hard drive i added. Any help is appreciated. At this point i'm thinking that my only option is to just reformat.

Wireless Mouse Doesn't Respond For 10 Minutes After Logging On
Has anyone had an issue with the wireless mouse (microsoft intellipoint) which has a hub plugged into the usb port does not respond for the first 10-15 minutes after logging on? I use an ibm thinkpad, it's been doing this for about a month. The wireless keyboard works immediately, but the wireless mouse takes time.

My Pc Keeps Freezing
Most of the times i start my pc and it freezes after a minute or two. After that i cant do anything but sometimes i get a screen with lower resolution and the lowest color quality or the pc starts beeping until i restart it manually. Everyday i have to restart it about 2-4 times until it stops freezing and i can use it the whole day after that. I tried everything and i guess it must be a hardware problem. Any ideas?

Freezing / Crashing
I have an older amd athlon 2500+ barton on a abit nf7-s v2. 0 mobo (latest bios, can't remember the version number though) that keeps on giving me problems with locking-up / freezing / crashing (bluescreen for a few seconds, then reboot). I originally thought it was problems with my ide controler, because the first signs of any problem was back 4 months when the computer would freeze at bios, while checking for the boot device in one of my optical drives (nothing was in the drive ever, on boot). I read up on ide settings and the use of a sata drive as the os drive/boot device, with an ide hdd as the secondary storage device with windows xp. Apparently xp doesn't like that. So i pulled out all ide devices except for my sony dvd+-rw that is on ide controler 1 as primary. I then proceeded to download the sata controler drivers for my mobo and put them on a diskette. I formatted my sata drive, re-installed a fresh copy of windows xp professional and loaded the drivers for the sata controler on at install. Everything worked fine. I then downloaded my chipset / graphics / mobo devices drivers from my mobo manufacturer and installed the most recent ones from abit. I upgraded to win xp sp2 and downloaded all critical updates. I have the latest catalyst drivers for my x800 and i have the soundblaster drivers installed correctly. Now, in my head, this sound be a stable working system. I then installed steam (cs:source and cs1. 6), bf2 and world of warcraft. When i run bf2 or wow for more than a few seconds (bf2 won't even get past the ea games logo sometimes), the game freezes and becomes choppy, as if you were experiencing severe lag in an online game. Sound and graphics. At this point, my hard drive starts making loud crunching noises, when it freezes. I assume my hard drive is toast, so i download the samsung drive utility and run the tests. The utilities tell me the drive is fine, so i'm a bit confused. I know that when i run cs:source, it may work fine for a bit, but eventually starts to do the same thing. Cs1. 6 doesn't usually give me problems. I downloaded some graphic card stress test (can't name the app right now, i'm not around that computer) and benchmarking program. The stress test caused the same freezing / noises, but only for a while and then it stopped. The benchmark didn't cause it. I ran prime95 and memtest86, stress tests. My cpu seems fine (albeit it's old and slow) and my memory is fine as well, though it seems like my pagefiles are constantly getting used with only 512 mb of ram, so i don't know if maybe all this drive activity has caused bad sectors on my drive or something.

Pc Keeps Freezing And Restarting
My mate was having some problems with her pc, she kept saying to me it keeps slowing down freezing and restarting, and once i got round to look at it i found hundreds of problems ranging from bad drivers, to low memory and a complete clutter of spyware and viruses, so i thought ok im gna format the hard drive and reinstall windows, she at the time had 256mb of ram so i recommended to her to upgrade it to 512mb of ram which we did and that made the pc faster, but after reformatting the restarts were still there and the pc still kept freezing. Since that time the pc completely shut down and wouldnt load windows, so i reformatted it again and it was fine but still the random restarts and freezing returned. I'm not too sure what to advise to her now im completely confused, are the freezing and restarting two different problems? Or inter-related? New formatted and clean version of windows xp with sp2 and all updates is installed, can this problem me software related? Can itunes and java script cause problems?
Before formatting her pc she used to get error reports after each restart relating to javascript because she has programs like limewire and other websites which are java based which could have caused restarts but what i dont understand is after formatting these error reports did not appear again and her pc seemed fine but the random freezing and restarting still continued! Her pc does also get quite hot when on for just a few hours so i advised her to keep her case open but still it freezes and restarts, does any1 have any idea what could be wrong?

Freezing Issue
I have an amd athlon 1. 4 processor with an msi motherboard unsure of which model. I've had it for a few years now. I have an ancient creative sound blaster also
I have had an issue with my computer freezing when i run pretty mucuh any games on my pc. No matter what i do this problem does not go away. I've formatted, defragged, virus scanned, disk utilitied, spy ware scanned, registry edited, you name it none of it has made any difference. It has gotten to the point where i couldnt even start up windows before it freezes then i have to reformat. I'm convinced whatever issue i have gets progressively worse. At first it would only do it with some games and my graphic performance would be lower than what it should. But over time now i can't play any games for more than a few minutes before the computer freezes. The only thing i can think of is a hardware issue. I was having this problem before i replaced my video card i'm thining maybe i should try taking out the 30 gb hard drive to see if it makes any difference. My other speculation is some kind of motherboard conflict. My video card and memmory is recently new and i was having this problem prior to replacing these so i don't see why this would be an issue. Please help i'm totallign stumped this issue has been plaguing me for a very long time!

Computer Freezing Up
From time to time my computer freezes, usually it will kick back over but sometimes it takes so long i just reset the thing, any idea's what might be doing this?
The apartment isn't that warm, and i even have the side of the case off, so i don't think it's getting overheated. I'm not even sure if it's hardware or software related.

Bios Freezing
Friend gave pc to me and all it did was turn on. (Cpu fan, light on case) i reseated everything first with no luck, after messing with it (wiggleing things) it fired up. I open the bios and because i reseated the chip i went to hardware moniter to make sure the temp stayed good. It slowly climbed until it hit 39 degrees, then it stopped. When i tried to leave the bios it was frozen. I checked for a bios upgrade for this problem and could not find anything. My question is has anyone seen this before and is it fixable. I would like to save the motherboard if posible.

Freezing Computers
Well, i dont know whats wrong but my brother keeps on complaining about his computer freezing. Yesterday he said it froze 10 times and it won't resolve even if you wait all day. Until you restart it. It occurs completly randomly, sometimes during a screen saver, sometimes when he mixing songs, sometimes when its just idling, sometimes with itunes. Any idea of what it could be? Well, i dont know whats wrong but my brother keeps on complaining about his computer freezing. Yesterday he said it froze 10 times and it won't resolve even if you wait all day. Until you restart it. It occurs completly randomly, sometimes during a screen saver, sometimes when he mixing songs, sometimes when its just idling, sometimes with itunes. Any idea of what it could be? Someone suggested heat but all fans are going.

Random Freezing Of Pc
I posted a few weeks ago w/ a pc that wouldn't power up. After replacing the ps, mobo, and memory, the new cpu (amd) got 'er back up and running. How, it boots, i log in (w2k) and it will run for a while and then freeze - no mouse, kbd, can't ctrl-alt-del and have to use the soft boot button. Also occurs when dual booted to linux. I pulled the usb devices, and speakers and same problem. I only have a video card so i'm at a loss as to where to go from here.

Computer Keeps Freezing
The last couple days my computer has been freezing up. 99% of the time it was while trying to surf the web. It just happened today with my yahoo mail and new-egg as only tabs open using firefox. I ran ad-aware and norton with nothing but some cookies found as usual. I'm wondering if possibly my hard drive, motherboard or cpu is taking a crap. I hit control alt del and my mouse pointer will turn to an hourglass but thats the most that will happen. I can click on stuff till i'm blue in the face and nothing happens. I end up having to hit the computer reset button until the next time it freezes up which has been quite often lately. I built this computer in august of 2007 and haven't really had any problems with it till now. Any idea on where to start to figure out whats wrong and fix it?

New Computer Keeps Freezing
My new desktop keeps freezing, randomly. First everything freezes except for the mouse, then after a few seconds the mouse will freeze as well. The build is in my sig. Running vista x64, i'm not sure where to begin. I'm not over-clocked at all. My temps stay below 50 c when idle, normally closer to 46 c. I use core-temp to monitor my temps at all times. Stock hsf for the time being. I don't think it's a cooling issue as it usually happens after i boot. If i can go 5 minutes without it freezing, it generally will not freeze later. Is there any log file or dump file i can look at it to figure out what the problem is? Nothing of this sort happens in ubuntu 8. 10

Beeping And Freezing
I have had my pc for a long time however over the years it has been upgraded, more ram, new mother board, new graphics card etc. It has had it's fair share of problems, but this year everything has been going fine. No problems to report. That was until this morning. Woke up thsi morning to find my brother on the computer, i kicked him off and logged on to have him tell me that the computer seems to be freezing and beeping. I thought nothing of it and continued by turning the internet on, opening msn, checking emails etc. Then the freezing and beeping started. At first it just froze. I thought nothing of it. I had to many windows open so it was going slow. That must be the problem. So i shut everything down other than one ff window. But it continued. This time happening alot more often and now with a beeping sound coming from inside the computer itself. Just like the sound you hear when you boot your pc up. So i ran avg for virus's and spybot to see if i had any nasty things running around my system. Both came back fine. Nothing bad to report. I defragmented my hard drive. That went ok other than i found i only have just over 5gb of hard drive space left. I tryed everything i could think of. Finally the amount of times it kept on freezing and beeping died down. I thought i had killed it and everything was sorted. How wrong was i. After 5 mins it had all started again. So i decided to run a little experiment. I have now noticed that it doesn't beep everytime it freeze up. When i was on the desktop i just kept my mouse moving around the screen and i noticed that after a while it seemed to freeze for a second, and then continue working as normal, however there wasn't a beeping sound. I continued doing this "experiment" and found that the beeping sound happens occasionally, but not as often as the computer freezing. I have also noticed that when it does beep, it freezes for a much longer period of time.

Pc Is Not Booting
I just tried to see if a network card was working properly by taking it out and putting it back in. Then i tried to boot it up but nothing comes up on the screen. I've tried moving some jumpers around to see if they do anything but nothing changes. My mobo is an ms-6378. An 800mhz duron, and a netgear network card. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Pc Not Booting
I need some advice as to why my pc is not booting after i moved it 5 feet into a cabinet. I unpluged everything to move it into the cabinet. After reconnecting all my devices i turned it on and it was working fine. I put a cd in to listen to music and after a couple of songs the machine locked up. Now when i try to boot the systen preforms a disk checks, finds no errors, acts like it wants to boot, then asks which mode i want to boot to, ie safe mode, last known config, or normal. I have treid each of these choices and all that happens is the entire process of disk checking begins. It keeps going around in circles. I have tried reseating all the cables and all my pci cards thinking this might help, but i am having no luck with anything. Can anyone give me some advice as to what may be causing this mess. All i did was move the machine 5 feet.
