Pc Shutdown - Buzzing Noises

Recently my computer has been randomly shutting itself down. Immidiatly after the shutdown a loud buzzing/beeping noise occurs from the front of the pc. My computer is custom made from the internet, and so i dont know who to contact. The part making the noise is a small black circular object, about the size of a 10c piece. Its connected to my motherboard by a black/red wire. I believe the wire goes next to the wires for my on/off, reset, and on & working lights. I replaced my hard drive as my university technician told me my hd was seizing, however that isnt the problem. Any ideas suggestions to my problem? Or could someone tell me what this noisey black thing is! And how can i fix it!

Buzzing Noise In Forte Headphone Only During 3d Audio

For the first time since getting my forte a couple of months ago i went to play some games with 3d audio using headphones connected to the rear headphone output. I followed the headphone setup instructions here. My headphones are shure e4g iems (like e4c but black. Specs say 29ohms. Forte drivers 1. 1, vista x64 sp1. The noise floor was imperceptible in vista aero. I'm playing the original f. E. A. R. At the moment. Immediately after launching while in the menus i could hear a digital sounding buzzing. When entering the game it changed in pitch and character wildly. My last save was somewhere fairly quiet, while standing in one place and looking around the tone was changing in pitch and character, following my movements. If i didn't move the mouse/view, it stayed constant. Cpu, gpu and hdd activity do not influence the sound (unlike what i've heard from laptops and cheap onboards). These observations lead me to believe the noise is originating from the 3d sound mapping somehow, and isn't simply rfi. I have never heard any sounds of this type with my speakers (klipsch promedia 5. 1)

I wasn't sure if the old technology in fear might be using alchemy and somehow be an issue. I fired up crysis:warhead and it was there too, although quieter and hard to detect with the increased ambient sound in the jungle scene (shore leave, i think). It was definitely present in the menu but will come and go depending on what effects are being used. I tried turning off cmss-3d and it didn't seem to change anything. I should also probably mention that with these iems i'm only setting my volume at about 6% and it is plenty loud enough. People with other cans may have this problem but simply not be able to hear it with higher output needs and/or the lack of the isolating nature of the iems. I haven't done an exceptional amount of troubleshooting but i wanted to see if this is something people have experienced in certain conditions, if its settings, or if its rma time (hoping not, just for the inconvenience factor).

Cpu Wont Start Up, Buzzing Noise

I have an emachines t2792 cpu. It has an 2. 7ghz intel celeron processor, 256mb ram, and an 80gb hard drive. It is just under 2 years old. All of a sudden, the cpu will not power up. There is a low buzzing noise and no lights that come on or even flicker. It is plugged into a surge protector. Is there anything i can test on my own? I'm trying to avoid hefty diagnostic fees.

Speakers Crackling Noises

Rightly, when playing games and listening to music sometimes, my speakers randomly crackle really loudly which becomes very irritating after a while. Im not sure if its a problem with my speakers not being able to handle the sound card or something or if its to do with me not having it set up correctly. I currently have 2. 1 cambridge soundworks speakers. The other problem im having at the moment is that my mouse doesn't seem to click first time, this means i have to keep the left mouse button held down for a second instead of it coming through instantly. For example if i wanted to open something and double clicked on it the first click wouldn't be registered and it wouldn't open, so id have to go back and redouble click it, slows my browsing down quite alot. As you can see its only a small error but something again that *** me off as ive only bought this mouse about 3 weeks ago (this problem only started happening afew days ago). Do u think its a problem with my mouse or is my pc got a glitch somewhere.

Slight Buzzing / Static In Front Panel Headphone Jack

I'm trying to figure out where i can start troubleshooting a slight buzzing/static noise that i'm hearing from headphones when plugged into the front panel jack on my case. Just for comparison - the speakers don't exhibit the same buzzing sound using the speaker out on the actual card itself - only from the front panel output. My instinct is the front panel cable or maybe grounding? While it isn't a super big deal it's annoying when i hear the buzz when the scene is supposed to be quiet. Any suggestions? I'm not exactly sure if the cable itself can be replaced as it's wired to the front panel of case. A bit of background on the hardware:

Antec p183 case
Gigabyte ga-ma790x-ud4p motherboard
Amd phenomii x3 720 cpu
Asus xonar essence stx sound card

Power Supply Makes A Buzzing Noise And Wont Turn On

I was watching a movie and paused it to go get something to eat. When i came back i pressed space (my media player uses space for pause/play) almost simultaneously as i pressed the spacebar the computer shutoff. I waited a few seconds and attempted to turn it back on, but no go. When i press the power button a short 1 second buzzing sound comes from the power supply and doesn't power on. The motherboard light does turn on, im not sure what the light is but it is always on as long as the computer is plugged into the wall. As far as build up problems and signs, my computer was/has been running fine for over 3 years now. My motherboard is actually fairly new, i sent back my old one for a replacement a little over 14 months ago. I haven't got the time to check the voltage coming from the psu, but can i really if it wont power on? Also, considering that the onboard light on the motherboard comes on can this be a indication of a bad motherboard? Or other faulty hardware? Or does this sound more like a psu problem? My computer has ran flawlessly with no crashes or lockups. Until now apparently. My specs are:
Motherboard: asus a5prd1-v
Memory - 1gb (single module) ddr
Hard drive: western digital 160gb sata
Cdrom: sony dvd-rw x16
Video: ati radeon x800xl
Power supply: 350w codegen

Computer Crashes - Clicking Noises

My system keeps crashing. The symptoms are some audio clicking noises when i move the mouse, followed by general computer lagging, then pretty soon it just crashes (to a bsod if i don't manually restart before that). I just updated my graphics card (my old one went out) and its been doing it since then it seems. I've mostly noticed it when i play games. Doesn't matter what game really. After a certain ammount of time it will simply start to have audio distortion and then it will begin to lag and crash. And it has crashed while doing almost nothing a couple of times. I ran realtemp, and it appears my gpu is running at about 85c. While my processor gets to around 60c in games. I'm not sure but i don't believe those are temps that would make it crash. I've updated video card drivers, chipset drivers, nvidiaphysx drivers, audio drivers (all on 64bit certified drivers).

Computer Is Making Weird Noises

The noise is like "da nuh. Da nuh", like the first "da nuh" is lower pitched and the second "da nuh" is higher pitched. If that doesn't help its the noise it makes when it has a usb plugged in and then taken out. It's an hp laptop with vista.

Computer Shutdown

I have a intel 850gb mobo and i formatted my hdd 2x thinking it was a bad install. When i hit start, shudown, not restart the computer goes thru the powering down phrase i hear the familiar click of the hdd whichs turns it off and bam, the hdd is off but the mobo and fans including cpu are still on. I replaced the power supply to no avail. I have to hit the reset button then the power button to quickly too turn off computer. Strange, im thinking the mobo is not sending the signal to the power supply commanding it to turn off. My hdd is new and was working finr, i like to reformat my hdd 2x a year to clean off the mess.

Randomly Rebooting And Strange Clicking Noises

My computer has gone crazy and it is driving me mad! It began with the computer randomly rebooting and strange clicking noises. I thought it was the power supply (it was a vt-300tatx). I replaced it with a suggested vt-400atx). Everything seemed to be fine for several weeks. My daughter installed the sims game on it and suddenly it started freezing up when it got to a certain point in the game, and then it started rebooting. I thought it was a problem with the os so i wiped c: and reformated it and tried to reinstalled windows 2000 professional, which is what i was running on it. Now nothing works right. Sometimes when i turn the computer on, the fan runs bu the computer doesn't boot. After flipping the off/on switch a couple of times it will boot. I can usually get it to the c: prompt, but sometimes when i try to run commands it freezes up. When ever i try to install windows i get errors. Windows 2000 professional: oe, 06 and od errors. Windows 98: file xxx. Xx corrupted, error 14, etc. , Always with a different file or else the system freezes up during installation of files. Same with 2000: freezes during file installation. Windows 95 (i even tried that) won't even start up. Sometimes, the system won't recognize the cd rom drive. I am at wits end. Most of the diagnostics i have will only run under windows, and i can't even install it. Most of microsofts db articles don't apply or you need windows installed to complete their suggested fixes. I ran memtest86 and the memory is ok. I even swapped out the memory card so that's not the problem. I tried reinstalling the mbr but nothing there. And all the registry diagnostics i have need windows to run. I am at wits end! Help! Anyone have any idea before i commit hari-kari?

The noise is baisically constant as i use my pc, the fans aren't loud, but i can't take the constant buzzing and grinding from my video card and hds anymore. Does anyone have any idea why or what is causing it?

Samsung Monitor Has High Pitch Noises

I live in a very poor and crappy electrical neighborhood, though i have a high quality apc ups. I have a samsung 753df 17" flat, been with me for about 6 months or less. I thought the ups would regulate the current, but it seems this monitor also occasionally likes to do high-pitch noises. They are temporary though. I am just concerned though that i will again find myself with electrical problems wearing the monitor out. Any ideas?

Computer Shutdown Randomly

I built my computer a few years ago and have had no problems (p4). Today it decided to shutdown randomly. I tried rebooting but it would turn on like it was going to start but bios would not post and it would shut down after about 5 seconds. My first inclination was that it was a failing power supply. Replaced that without any luck. The odd thing is that when i plug in both power components from the ps to the mobo it turns on and after five seconds turns off;

Yet, when i do not have the 12v 4pin plugged in, the computer stays running, although it does not load windows. I checked the ram, light on mobo is on, nothing smells fried, i'm hoping it is not the mobo.

Computer Does Not Turn Off After Shutdown ?

I have an old opteron desktop that i will be using as a home server. The issue i've been having for the past few months is that it will not physically turn off after the os finishes shutting down. It used to, when i was using it as my main desktop, so i have no idea what has changed. What i have tried:

Windows 7 professional x64
Windows server 2008 r2 x64
Windows xp professional sp2
Reset bios
Install nvidia chipset drivers from manufacturer cd
Windows xp sp3
Ubuntu 7. 10
Flash bios to 4/06/2006 from 3/29/2006

Things i have tried since posting:

Unplug hard drives, boot ubuntu livecd, halt

In all of the operating systems i have tried, none can successfully turn off the computer. The only indication that the computer is supposed to have shut off is that i hear something turn off (hard drive maybe), and then all power would normally be cut, but now that sound doesn't happen in xp after installing the nvidia drivers. I have tried disabling usb power suspend in server 2008, with no effect. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Edit: the os's shutdown screen remains on the display after it "shuts down". Specs:

Amd opteron 144 1. 8ghz
Dfi lanparty nf4 ultra-d (modded to sli-d)
3gb ddr-400
Two geforce 7600 gt (one is out of the machine right now)
Single 160gb ide hard drive
Single 320gb sata2 hard drive

Pc Reboot When Set To Shutdown

I have a hp dc5700 and i just installed a nvidia 8400 pci. When i shutdown the pc it restarts. I tested without the card and the on board video works fine and the computer shuts down properly. Tried reinstalling the drivers and un-checking automatic reboot to see if it was blue screening, but nothing. There are no errors in the log and the pc works fine. I am leaning toward hardware (either the motherboard or video card). Any suggestions?

Hard Drive Making Clicking Noises Randomly

About a month or so ago my maxtor drive started making clanking noises randomly while using it and froze during defrag. At post the error i got was "pri. Master smart status bad. Backup and replace" i did an rma from maxtor and the new drive seemed to be working. No noises or error messages, until yesterday. I was extracting a zip when i heard that clanking noise for the first time on this drive. What is going on here? Could it be my motherboard that is bad. It is an intel board and i don't remember having any trouble when i first got the old drive in working.

Itouch Problem - Get Rid Of Noises Or Sounds That Alert Me

Ok so i just got my itouch the other day and i downloaded a bunch of apps for it such as words with friends, facebook, and textfree. I like them all, but the only problem is, for example, i'm playing words with friends and one of my friends plays, well all the sudden i'll get a notification saying that he/she played and it will make a sound or noise to alert me. Or on facebook when i get a notification or something like that i will also get a sound or noise to alert me. How do i get rid of the noises or sounds that alert me that i have a text or notification or something? Is there anyway?
Now i went to settings, then general, then sounds, and turned all the options off for sound, but it still isn't working with my apps.

Hardlocks, Screen Freezes, Sound System Makes Noises

When playing games such as cc: generals and planetside, the system will randomly hardlock (screen freezes, sound system makes a horrible screeching noise and then loops the most recent audio about 2 seconds back, or sometimes no audio at all) and the only way to get out of it is to hit the reset button on the case. I have never had a crash when doing normal operations such as web browsing or word processing or playing mp3's. Now, originally i though it was an overheating issue, so i picked up the thermaltake cpu cooler, and the case now has two 120mm fans (one suck, one blow) and a pci slot fan next to the ati card. At idle, my cpu and mobo are at about 75 degrees, under load, they never exceed 105 degrees. I also thought it may have been the audio subsystem on the mobo causing it, so i installed the audigy 2. I assume it must be a memory issue. My friend built a system that had an asus mobo that used rambus memory, and he found that it was extremely picky about what brand of memory it used. I have tried running memtest86 and the program has never completed all the tests. It always crashes, but always at different spots of different tests. I thought i saw a post on here a while ago that said kingston hyperx memory worked well on asus boards. I wanted to check with you guys, to see if there is anything else i overlooked before i went and bought a gig of memory (i might as well upgrade right? Any other causes for the hardlocks? Any known compatibility problems with asus/corsair or asus/kingston.

Windows Has Been Shutdown To Prevent Damage To Your Computer

When i'm installing from my windows xp disk the initial blue screen comes up saying it's loading all the stuff from the cd basically and then i get the error message as follows:-

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Check with your hardware vendor for any bios updates. Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart you computer, press f8 and select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode. Technical information:

*** Stop: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf748e0bf, 0xf78da208, 0xf78d9f08)

*** Pci.sys - address f748e0bf base at f7487000, datestamp 3b7d855c

I have no idea what would cause this. I'm over-clocking my cpu some some bios settings are changed, could setting them back to defaults solve this issue? It doesn't really make sense to me. Please, i'd be grateful for any advice.
