Dell E520 - Geforce 8800

I opened my case to see what i was going to have to do. Right after i opened it, i took a look at the situation. First thing i noticed was that the card's ventilation was going to have to have an opening. Second, was that the fan shroud was going to be in the way. Third? I wish i had a dreamed kit. Would have made this into a 1 hour ordeal. This will void your warranty. You will be removing a piece of the case, a screw from the 8800, and a part of the fan shroud and mount. If you're still interested, read on! This is not sanctioned by dell!
1 - first of all, i popped the case open and took a look. I tried slipping in the 8800 as it was to see what had to be changed. 1st thing was the spot in the back above where the stock pci-e card would stick out. The 8800 needs to vent, so there needed to be a hole there. 2 - second, the rear of the card needed some space. To do this, i had to remove the shroud from over the heatsink and cut about 1 inch off of it. Also, where it connects to the mount on the motherboard i had to trim the mount down quite a bit. I thought this would loosen the heatsink alot but it never, the hs is still firmly on the cpu!

Would a nvidia geforce gtx 480 fit in dell dimension e520 without changing any of the original components?
Answer:- no. According to the dell website, your computer only has a 305w power supply. A gtx 480 requires allot of power, all most double a regular graphics card. But other than that it should work fine. You will need at least a 650w power supply to run this graphics card, but i would recommend getting something a bit higher, 800w preferably. Buy why do you want to get this card? You're computer is not that great to begin with, only duo core/pentium. This graphics card is way to powerful and everything else in your system will end up bottlenecking it. Don't waste your money on a $500 card when your computer isn't even worth that much. I would recommend getting a xfx hd 5770 1gb, even this might be a little over powerful for your computer. But once again you'll have to upgrade the power supply to at least 450w, preferably 650w.

Windows 7 Resolution Problem - Geforce 8800 Gts
I just upgraded via clean install from vista-64 to 7-64 and i cant use my monitors native resolution. I have a 21. 5 inch viewsonic lcd hdtv/monitor. I have it hooked up via vga into an nvidia geforce 8800gts card. I have 2 monitors (the other being a gateway 17' lcd 1280x1024). When i try to use 1600x900 resolution via the "change resolution" option when i right click the desktop my monitor just turns black and says "out of range" although 1600x900 is my native resolution and has worked on xp and vista. When i choose 1600x900 via the nvidia control panel, it works, but the left and right side of my screen are cut off. I am currently using 1360x768 and my monitor picks it up fine but when i use the 16x9 with the sides cut off the monitor appears to read it as 1280x960. I am assuming that the monitor is not reading the correct resolution from the computer since it reads it as 1280x960 instead of 1600x900. Ive looked everywhere for answers and all i can find is the problem with the 16x9 not being available at all which i fixed with a simple update. So now i have the 16x9 resolutions but i cant use them. Very frustrating. Anyone know how to fix it?

Ram For Dell Dimension E520
Last year i went on the crucial and dell sites and it said that my max memory was 1gb per slot. 4 slots, so that's 4 gb. I went on the website again tonight and now it claims that i can have 2gb per slot. I know my 32 bit operating system will only utilize 3. 5gb, but is it telling me that i can have 2gb per slot now? Disregard the bus speed. Anyway, i know how to use google, so people who actually own an e520, please respond.

How can i reboot my computer to factory settings dell windows 7? Im trying to do as i said in my question but when i use factory restore image thing in the repair mode nothing comes up and i want to restore it, also i don't have the disk and i have a dell dimension e520 i got windows 7 installed later in time. Dimension E520 Cpu Upgrade
I'm upgrading a client's dell e520 from a pentium d 820 to a pentium e6600 dual-core cpu. With the e6600 cpu installed, i get no post screen at all, and the monitor light blinks. Both fans (psu & cpu) come on and the hard drive spins up. The main front panel power light shows steady green and the front panel diagnostic lights show 1, 3 and 4. To shut down i have to hold the power button in for 4-6 secs (rather than just pressing it). All my research insists that the e6600 is compatible with the dell e520, and it's my understanding that the motherboard should automatically adjust from the old 800mhz to the new 1066mhz fsb speed. I'm using the original 305w psu. I have updated the bios from 1. X to 2. 4. 0. I have tried reverting a ram upgrade from 2x2gb 800mhz (which works with the pentium d cpu) to the original 2x512mb 533mhz. I've tried removing the battery for 15 minutes as well as shorting the clrbios jumper. I've tried reseating the cpu, the ram and the power leads. Every time i insert the pentium d it works, but i have yet to get anything out of the e6600. I work at a static-free workstation and am using good quality thermal paste with the original heatsink assembly.

Just received my pny geforce 9600 gt 512 card. Spoke to a tech at pny and said needs 400watt with 26 amp. Read somewhere that it runs fine on a dell 305 source. My power supply is a dell l35on-00. Says 350 watt can't read amps. It does have a six pin adapter to fit the card. Does anyone know if i will have any problems? Not a gamer. Appreciate the help.

I plan on building a new computer later this year using either an 8800gts or gtx and am wondering if anyone knows of any websites that have lists of known compatible cases that will definitely fit either of the 8800 cards. This seems to me, to be a topic worthy of a sticky because if cards of these length become the norm for future video cards, alot of folks will want to know which brands of cases will fit these cards without any clearance issues.

Will my dell gx280 mini tower be able to run a geforce 9600 gt graphics card plz answer my question? I have a dell gx280 mini tower will it be able to run a xfx nvidia geforce 9600 gt graphic card or do i need a new power supply, this graphic card:-

8800 Gts Card Fps Comparison
I own this;
Evga 640-p2-n829-ar geforce 8800gts ssc 640mb 320-bit gddr3 pci express x16 hdcp ready sli supported video card
And my friend just got this;
Bfg tech bfge88512gtse geforce 8800gts (g92) 512mb 256-bit gddr3 pci express 2. 0 x16 hdcp ready sli supported video card
And he is currently running 200+ fps on my card, why do you think this is?
The only other difference is he has 4gs 6400 ram and i have 3gs 3200 ram, and i'm running amd dual core and he has intel quad core.could these be the reasons?

Nvidia 8800 Gt Video Card Crashing
2 years ago i built my computer and have had no problems until the last week. I hadn't updated my drivers since march and after my video card crashed (image turns purplish and pixelated sound begins repeating) trying to play a new video game i decided to update them. After i updated them any other game i wanted to play/movie would crash my video card while before it would be just that one game. Power is fine, temperature between, 40-50 degrees c
Seated correctly, tryed both vc slots
Downloaded driver sweeper, cleaned all remnents of my old reinstalled new drivers still crashed when playing video games. Reinstalled windows with a slightly older video driver seemed to work then crashed again. Used driver sweeper and then windows wouldn't boot in safe mode or normally , i was getting a blue screen with:
0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff8000985e251, 0xfffff98000a05898 in the stop message
The weirdest part about this was some times it would boot up and the video card would crash when i tryed playing a game or movie and othertimes it would keep going to the blue screen. Currently i reinstalled my os again, i havent downloaded any sort of updated and it took two restarts to get the system to load (first one crashed to the blue screen)
My specs are:
Intel duel core
Nforce 750i sli ftw
Ge force 8800 gt
4 gigs of ram
Windows vista 64x
I am really lost and anyone who would know more about this topic please help.

Gf 8800 Gts 320mb On Asus A8r-mvp
I need a good answer before i purchase a video card. So my question/problem is if i can stick a gf8800gts 320mb card to my motherboard. I have an asus a8r-mvp. I'm asking this cuz it has ati crossfire xpress 1600. The thing is that i dont know if that means that i can cf 2 ati cards or that i can only stick ati cards in the pci-e .

I have an nvidia 8800 gts 640 video card. I used riva tuner to overclock the card but i think i increased it too much too fast. When i restarted the computer windows would load and when i got to my desktop screen the logo's would appear and everything seemsed fine. A second or two later the computer freezes and then automatically reboots. I have left the computer off. Also, i have not tried removing the motherboard battery. Any ideas?

Nvidia 8800 Gts Dual Monitors Timeout Problem
I have an nvidia 8800gts connected to two monitors running in extended display mode with 20 min timeout to turn monitors off. Occasionally, when i move the mouse/press keys on the keyboard to bring it back it only brings back the secondary monitor, leaving the other one off. Turning off and on the primary doesn't help - at first the only thing i could do is change resolution, which was tough because when i went to display properties it would appear on the primary monitor so i had to randomly fish icons/windows from the 'blank' primary to the working secondary. I then found a program called monoff which i could send the monitors to sleep and if i did it enough times (anywhere between 2-5) it would bring both monitors back. It's been annoying, but i've been living with it. Recently my 450w pc power & cooling psu died on me. I went to best buy to get a psu, they only had a this 700w rocket fish psu so i bought it and used it for a week. In the week that i was using the rocketfish, the monitor issue did not happen once - so i thought my old 450 just didn't have enough juice. Out of curiosity i checked out newegg and saw something which looked better and ordered this 850w corsair psu. I've had it installed for about 5 days now and it's just as bad as the old pc power & cooling. Because the only difference between the setups were the psu, i'm tempted to say it's the psu. Any idea what may be going on? Incase it helps, this is only an issue in windows 7 & vista, xp worked perfectly fine - i've had several os reinstalls and dozens of driver revisions with proper installation since then.
