Wd Passport Connection Problem
Replies: 2 | Post Date: 4 weeks ago | User: Blaze Clayton | Forums: answers.yahoo.comWell, it seems my connection starts off awesome, flawless even, until the cable gets a bit older, then the light begins blinking and sometimes loses connection before regaining it automatically. Now, it'll clink constantly to a grayish light, then even lost connection until i readjust it. Another dilemma i seem to have is that it'll connect and be fine, until it randomly disconnects and, even though i readjust it to where the light is on, it won't even show up on the computer. Anyone have an explanation?

Wd Elements Vs My Passport
I'm looking into a new external, mainly for backup purposes. I'd been focusing on the mypassport and freeagent series, but then i stumbled upon a wd elements 640 gb on the egg for only $99. 99. The elements models look ideal for me: cheaper but only slightly larger than the passports, and still powered via a single usb port. However, i can't seem to find much information about them and it seems not a lot of retailers even carry them. Anyone here have one? If so, comments on reliability, speed, etc. ?

External Wd Passport: Which Format ?
Anyway, i had camped out at staples this morning and am now the proud owner of a 120 wd passport for my happy backing up needs. I have however a few questions. I often go from mac to pc, and vice versa. So i was wondering what format to put my drive in so that it can be written to both. I know there are format differences, but just wondered if this were possible.

How To Reset A Wd Passport Essential ?
How to reset a wd passport essential ? I don't know, i'm asking you. My dad has a wd passport essential with it's fancy schmancy encryption. He set a password, locked the thing and forgot the password. So the drive is essentially useless. After scouring the internet for a way to recover the password, i learn that there is no way to recover the password or data on the drive, but the manual and other resources hint that there is a way to reset the drive and delete the data on it. Wd apparently doesn't want people doing it though because i can't find any information on this process anywhere, and by anywhere i mean google. So i'm here wondering if anyone figured out how to reset this damn thing. I've taken the thing apart and have a feeling that it might relate to jumping some pins. I've sent wd this question, but i doubt i'm going to get a useful response. If i do, i'll be sure to post it here. My dad in his haste tried reformatting the drive. So i'm receiving it in possibly an odd configuration where the hd is not immediately visible in windows, but its various utilities on it's "virtual cd" is. Disk manager says that the hd is write protected and apparently missing a partition table when i try to initialize the drive. Probably has to do with the encryption stuff. The various utilities won't let me do anything until i unlock the drive. I tried wd's datalifegaurd to see if it could do anything, but it can't seem to find the drive. It's a 750gb model. Model number: wdbabm7500abk-nesn. On the inside the drive carries the model number wd7500kmvv. It has an sata label, but its pcb only has a usb port and unlabeled pins. For those thinking about getting a passport: i don't know if it's been mentioned but there is a downside to the passport's encryption. It's bricked if you forget the password unless wd's magic reset process is found. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Western Digital Elements Vs Passport
I'm looking on newegg and there's a $10 difference between a 500gb passport and their element hard drive. There's an insignificant difference in size and both are usb powered. The only difference i can see from wd's website is the passport might have backup software. Anyone else notice a big difference between the two before i buy one?

Is Wd My Passport Essential Affected By Movements ?
Wd my passport essential: is it affected by any movements? I wanna ask a specific question about these external usb powered hard drives like mine (western digital my passport essential 320 gb). Sometimes, i occasionally hit unintentionally the drive while it's working so it is displaced a little. Does this affect it negatively in anyway even if it's still working ok? I worry a lot about the safety about this drive since it contains all my files. I ask this question because i read years ago that the read/write head in any drive are so close to the plates so any vibration to the drive may make the heads scratch the surface and lead the drive to fail later on.

Windows Xp: Wd Passport - Usb Device Does Not Recognize Device
I bought a wd passport 160gb. And it worked fine i left it running on my computer for 2 weeks and now its not working error (usb device does not recognize device) so i thought i broke it, i went out and bought another one and i am getting the same error with the new one and old one, on mulit computers that it worked on in the past, i even tried in on new computers. Any ideas?

Issue With Dhcp Connection Wireless Connection Drop
I don't know why i keep getting this error message in the log for dhcp , it annoys a lot as it disconnects the wifi then reconnects and continues to do so for a few minutes. The ip address lease 192. 168. 1. 7 for the network card with network address 0xxxxxxxxxxxxx has been denied by the dhcp server 0. 0. 0. 0 (the dhcp server sent a dhcpnack message). I know there is an issue as the dhcp server should be 192. 168. 1. 1, it goes normal as in the log it shows that it gets the i. P from the correct dhcp but when the error happens it shows the dhcp server as to 0. 0. 0. 0. My wireless card is an atheros ar9285, my pc is a hp pavillion dv 7-3162nr laptop

Connection Problem
I have a three pc lan set up going through an ethernet router, with a 2mb internet connection i can run happily to the net for what i timed as a three hour connection for now, but as soon as an application sharing utility is run, or a connection to a file sharing network is established i have the internet cut off, i have check the router - and i found it was fine, i can speak to the other pc's fine, but the modem loses its connection tot eh outside world. Is there any thoughts on what could be causing this?
I have worked this out about 2 years ago and had it working fine, until i introduced the third machine to the network, i have since had to re-network it all to even get it to recognise the net at all, and the other machines. Having redone the network i have spent all of today waiting the time to see how long i would stay connected, on avergae i get 10-15 minutes with file sharing done, sometimes 5 minutes only, even now i am having to disconnect the plug and replug it back in to effectively reset the cable modem.

The only other alternative is if you use a cell phone as a usb modem. My old cricket r250 (i think that's the model) would use a dial-up connection to call out and link up to mobile internet. 2. Pros. None.cons? Slow, not worth paying for dial up service. 3. Depend on your operating system, its just a matter of (windows) going to network options and new connection wizard. There it will ask for user name, password, phone number, and any rules it should follow like dialing 1 before it dials or if needs to wait a while before it decides "oh, the computer didn't pick up on the other end, i'm gonna report an error". How can i get better internet connection? I would like better connection when i play xbox live. There are 3 floors in my house my router is on the first and my xbox is on the 3rd, i used to have my xbox on the second but moved it to my room. Should I Use Dvi For My Pc Monitor Connection ?
My computer only seems to work through the dvi port, and i when i got it i got a dvi-vga adaptor, and was using that connected to a vga lead, then to my monitor. Got a new monitor/tv combo though with an actual dvi port. I don't have any dvi leads to my knowledge, so my question is would i get any benefit from buying one and using that? And is there anything i should take into consideration, e.g. The type or quality of the lead i buy (i don't really know anything about them. )
Secondly, my 360 is also connected to this tv, so if i freed up the vga port would i then get a benefit from buying a 360 vga lead to connect it by that, or should i stick to component?
My tv/monitor is an lg m2094d, 1680x1050, 720p.

Modem Connection Error
I am trying to get into the internet for the first time into a freshly installed windows 98 system using netzero. I have used 3 different modems (however the drivers i used were for win 95, one had win 98 and the other had win2k). When i try to log i could hear the modem trying to get in, then its verifying the username and password. Then i get the following message with all three modems:
Connection error (645) internal authentication error. Your computer's modem or network settings are not properly configured. The phone line works. I checked the modem in the device manager and it states there that it is working properly. I tried changing the modem to a differnt pci location but then my computer began to act us (crashing and not shutting down when i wanted to shut down). Right now i am going to install a newer version of internet explorer and try to set it up. Can you guys please give me suggestions on how i could solve this problem.

The error i'm getting reads "this connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support plug-and-play, or it may have been initiated by another user or the system account. " I have referred this problem to both my computer repair tech and my isp and neither can help and both claim they have never heard of this before. I have a linksys wireless ethernet bridge - & have never had problems in the past. This just started when i got my computer back from repair. Can anyone advise, please?

Active Monitor Connection
So, after browsing and reading comments from the majority of you, i have found that i really want to pick up some swans (m200mkii), maudios, or as5's. I have no real reason except that they have been commented so much, that i think i will enjoy them more than my current setup:
Fubar iii dac/headphone amp
Denon avr-1602
(2) klipsch rb-10
Klipsch 10" sub
Beyerdynamic dt770 (250ohm)
But, before i go jump into the monitors, i have a few questions that may have already been answered a million times, and if so, sorry in advance. 1. Can the monitors be hooked up to the fubar iii headphone amp/dac? If so, is it recommended and would multiple volume controls be an issue?
2. How would i go at hooking up the sub? Would i even need the sub?
3. I really don't have a budget. I am going to start saving up for a nice set of speakers that will offer more than what i have. I have no gripes about my sound right now, but that doesn't mean that i can't do better. If at all possible, keeping it under $300 for the pair would be preferred, but not required. I listen to music (flac or high cbr mp3) of all types, and play games. The room that these will be in are roughly 12x12, centered across one of the walls. 4. Is the receiver still necessary? If not, my wife can use my klipsch/denon combo. 5. Is it worth it?

So, after browsing and reading comments from the majority of you, i have found that i really want to pick up some swans (m200mkii), maudios, or as5's. I have no real reason except that they have been commented so much, that i think i will enjoy them more than my current setup:
Fubar iii dac/headphone amp
Denon avr-1602
(2) klipsch rb-10
Klipsch 10" sub
Beyerdynamic dt770 (250ohm)
But, before i go jump into the monitors, i have a few questions that may have already been answered a million times, and if so, sorry in advance. 1. Can the monitors be hooked up to the fubar iii headphone amp/dac? If so, is it recommended and would multiple volume controls be an issue?
2. How would i go at hooking up the sub? Would i even need the sub?
3. I really don't have a budget. I am going to start saving up for a nice set of speakers that will offer more than what i have. I have no gripes about my sound right now, but that doesn't mean that i can't do better. If at all possible, keeping it under $300 for the pair would be preferred, but not required. I listen to music (flac or high cbr mp3) of all types, and play games. The room that these will be in are roughly 12x12, centered across one of the walls. 4. Is the receiver still necessary? If not, my wife can use my klipsch/denon combo. 5. Is it worth it?

Usb Network Connection
I have a cable modem gateway. (The cheepy my isp gave me) and it has a usb port on the back. Can i connect to the internet from this usb port, and if so how? I have no software for the gateway so i have no idea where to start.

Cannot Get The Network Connection To Enable
I have a dell pc with xp home and i just took my pc off of a domain. Had to get the administrative password as well, which i did. Also, i cannot seem to stop a log in window from coming on with the original administrator name on it even if i'm the new administrator seems like he is still built-in administrator. I cannot get the network connection to enable. I have installed the latest drivers and i have a network adapter installed for wireless use when-ever i get the network connection to enable. I don't know yet how to use the wireless situation in my building but the access points, routers, and modem is within the building for all tenants. The bottom words come up when i try to use the network wizard. I'm good in bios and the nic isn't on. When it was it didn't work neither. I'm not sure what is network- pxe or pxe bis default policy or whether to turn them on. Some of this computer's network hardware is still disconnected. Before you can continue, you must either plug in or otherwise connect all of your hardware, or select "ignore disconnected network hardware. Any assistance is welcomed i will be on for another hour.

Network Over A 56k Connection
Is it possible to have a network over a 56k connection? I have two computers and i want to transfer files between them and play a few games over a standard 56k dial-up connection. Can i do this, and what do i need to do in order to do this?

Dsi Connection Problems
My dsi is having connection problems, help? The error code tells me to set up the connection manually which requires ip addresses, subnet masks, and gateways. I typed them all in and double checked they're correct, but it still says i typed the numbers in incorrectly. Nintendo support said to change the ip address by at least ten numbers which i tried multiple ways, but i still can't get it right! My dsi connects sometimes, but other times it won't.

Wifi Connection Very Weak
We share a wifi connection but its very weak? We live on a static home park and have access to the sites router, the problem we have is that the signal is weak and sometimes we cant connect to router. Without connecting a wifi booster to the router is there a product or an antenna that i can connect to my pc that can capture a weak signal or an antenna that will capture a signal from a router that is a little to far away to give me a reasonable signal to prevent connection drop out.

Proxy Connection Is Being Refused
My proxy connection is being refused? I have tried everything i'm using mozilla firefox and i open up the window and it says the proxy server is refusing connections. I disabled all addons and that did nothing and i tried restarting.

Direct Connection Modem
If you have a laptop that uses wireless internet from a modem which does that, can i use direct connection even though a desktop is using it and still have everything work like normal after the connection?Like i'll unplug the modem from the desktop then plug it into my laptop, then plug it back into the desktop will everything work like normal again?
