A Serious Error Has Occured - System Crash
Replies: 3 | Post Date: 12-10-2007, 01:43 PM | User: Jchase | Forums: hardforum.com2 problems with my inspirion 9400. Firstly, for no reason at all, the fans on my laptop will kick in non-stop, and bring my system to a snail's pace. Nothing in particular will trigger this, a popup of "a serious error has occured", then they will start, and never stop. If i even try to play a game, the system will black out and crash. Secondly, my laptop speakers have stopped working. However, if i plug some headphones into the mic input and bend the jack slightly, they will work. Any ideas or solutions for either problem would be great.

Windows Xp System Crash Cause Of No Hard Disk Space
I have a windows xp operating system. April 1 major crash-couldn't reboot (no hard disc space), april 2 conducted system recovery, redownloaded: ad aware, spybot. Panicware popup stopper, sygate, avg antivirus, blackice, ace mega codecs. Total remaining hard disc space 31. 1 gb, 3 april computer started to switch off automatically sometimes every 10 minutes sometimes went for hours without switching off (this problem has now mysteriously disappeared), remaining disc space 25. 4 gb, carried out a disc clean up, avg reported no viuses detected. Just to be sure i downloaded norton which came with the computer but i had never utilized before. Did an update and full scan-no viruses detected. So my question is where did the 5 plus gbs go overnight? Or perhaps a more sensible question would be, how can i track it down?

Usb Drive Won't Mount On Either Pc Or Mac After System Crash
I had my usb drive (40 gb) connected to my pc and i was copying a movie off it to my local drive. Half way through my system crashes and i'm forced to do the three-finger-salute and end task everything before restarting my computer. Error: Stop: C000021a Fatal System Error
It was working fine yesterday. But then i started my comp and i saw the motherboard logo. Then usual testing. Then the windows logo. But right before it was ready to go to logon screen it shows the blue screen with some fatal error:
Stop: c000021a {fatal system error}the session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a system status 0xc000026c, i thought itwas the virus i got few days ago. I put different harddrives in different os's but nothing works. Even trying to restore stops. Everything stops with some fatal error. Now i'm pretty sure it's the hardware. But how do i know which part it is. I mean more likely it's the video card. Cause i overclocked it, but how do i find out for sure what's causing the problem
Is it even hardware? I'm completely clueless. Please help. My stupid windows xp doesnt start on other comps. I'm pretty sure it works just doesnt like hardware. But it contains a lot of information i cant delete.

System Error E808
Answer:- the easiest and fastest way to solve this problem is to run a registry cleaner software. A registry cleaner can eliminate errors in your record. This record stores all information about the software, drivers, applications and games that are installed on your computer. And in time, it can get bad, because some obsolete entries are not deleted and can lead to what they call the "errors". By using a registry cleaner http://make-a-computer-run-better.com the errors can be eradicated and increases the speed of your computer in the process. Registry cleaners work by scanning each file and then checking to see if it's corrupt or causing problems. If they find that it is broken, the registry cleaner will replace or fix the file for you to make your computer become free of errors. In addition, the errors will not happen if you regularly check and care for your computer system.

Error Loading Operating System
I have been trying for the last 6 hours to get this to work. The board is a dfi nfii ultra and an athlon xp-m 2500+ (not overclocked yet). Trying to install windows xp will give me this error, it copies the files and then retarts and one of these two errors come. I changed the hard drive, still no luck. Changed the ide channel of the hd and still gives me those errors when it goes to boot. Tried fdisk /mbr and fixmbr from the repair console.

System Reboots When Install Windows Without Error Message
Assembling a rig for a friend; after troubleshooting various hardware problems, got it to correctly display video and recognize all the hardware. My trouble starts when i try to install windows. I boot the disc, go to install it (the point where it says 'press enter to continue' right before it checks the drives and whatnot), press enter, and without error message the system reboots. I have tried installing sata drivers by pressing f6 and not; both circumstances lead to a reboot.computer specifications:

Error: System Failed Cpu Test - Computer Randomly Shuts Down
Basically, my computer randomly shuts down. Not shuts down through windows, just plain shuts off. Now its been suggested that this is either the power supply or the cpu fan, but i don't know which and really have no idea of that out. I have an antec 350w power supply on an asus p4c800 deluxe and a pentium 4. I am also getting an error message sometimes when i start up (sometimes after the random shutdown, sometimes not) that the "system failed cpu test, " but again i have no idea how to correct this. This isn't as bad because i just try again after that message and the computer boots up fine.

4870x2 Driver Crash
I am having driver problem with this card, again. Due to a sleep crash from vista, both of my oses (vista32 and vista64) refuse to boot. I can get into safe mode no problem, but whenever i tries to boot it normally it either goes into bsod or black with mouse right after windows loading bar. I have no idea how exactly does 1 crash effected both of my oses which are located on different drives. I am typing this on a fresh install of win7 64 rc, which doesn't seem to have any problem with display driver yet. Any idea how to fix this problem and make my vista last 1 more month?
P. S. According the safe mode, the crash is caused by display driver failure. But ati uninstall refuse to load under safe mode.could i use driver sweeper and wipe the ati files that way so vista could use it's "in house" temporary driver to get normal mode working?

Monitor Crash Problem
I have this problem with my 15" lcd al1511 monitor. I think that the problem can be fixed by buying a larger size but i want to find an alternative. Whenever i am playing full screen game (high graphic or not. I know the comp isn't the problem) the monitor at some point(10 mins, one hour etc) just goes black and its shows a box saying "no signal" . The only option then is rebooting my comp. Sometimes i can fix this by changing the resolution. This is a real prob because there are lots of games i haven't been able to play due to this. Like right now. I just d/l halo for pc. And it gets that problems. Oh and the problem doesn't always happen on full screen games only sometimes. But always on the same games
New: i got also an 17" lcd pro-view and it seems way better. It has like 10 types of resolutions unlike my other one that has 3. Only. Please note : my computer can handle these games perfectly(no lag or anything. Plus it also happens in a 39mb game and on . Maplestory. Lol) so i doubt my alienware is the problem. Help for any of these would be perfect.

Usb Hub Causing Pc Crash
I recently bought a berklin in desk usb hub, but when i have it connected to my pc and i reboot or power up my pc my asus p5k-premium board says oc failed hit f1 to change settings. Why is this i wonder, my oc is 100% stable and i have the latest mobo bios. I asked btarunr considering he'd prob have a good scoop on what is gong on off the top of his head, this is what he said:
"Usb hubs tend to load a single usb post beyond 500ma and brings in instability. Usb power is at the expense of the mobo's power phase. It's possible that it affects oc. Set usb as hispeed, disable any power mgmt feature in the bios for starters. " Well here are some of the auto settings that i do not know what values are safe to put in. My usb hub uses a wall outlet for some of its power, ive tried with it unplugged and it didnt fix the problem. I know my oc is orthos stable though @ 2. 8ghz 400fsb x7.

5870 Gray Screen Crash
I had ran my 5870 crossfire setup with this card with no problems. Now i started getting this gray screen lockup issues where about a minute after going into a game i get a lockup with a gray screen. Ive been reading a few ppl in guru3d having the same problem. Is it drivers? My power color never did it but i never ran the 9. 11 b4 driver with a single card until now. Just strange if it was hardware why would i be getting issues now and not with the crossfire setup? I should mention this is happening in cod world at war. Also it was doing this at stock clock. I ran it 900/1300 in my crossfire setup for a while without a single glitch.

Multiple Crash Bsod Reboot
I need some help, maybe some information on why my system gets multiple crash bsod reboot. All drivers are at the lastest to known date. Ok so i bought some ram on ebay another kingston hyperx pc4000 matching the sticks i already have. I get the ram, i test it individually on my system. It checks out fine , using the full memtest86 0-11 "memory test all", taking about the whole day, no errors. So i figure the ram was good and put back my 2 sticks and ran them at 2-3-3-7 timings. I rev up counter-strike source. 20min's later crash/bsod. I reseted the machine, got back in windows, open firefox 5min's later, browser crashed. So i tested each slot individually and found dimm a2 slot was causing errors. So i called up asus rma dept. Said send asap. I get it in there, and realize my sata hdd won't boot. So i deleted the partition on it and reloaded windows. No errors running the sticks at 2-3-3-7 timing, load everything back on there. Tested the browser, everything look like it was ok. Open up counter-strike source. Ran fine for the first hour, then it crash and gave me the irql not equal to or less than equal error, noticed that it was the nvidia drivers causing it so i reloaded those drivers. And remember i'm running all 3 sticks. So i open up c-s:s again, about 40min's later it bsod and gave me the 0x000000ao error, so i ripped out the 3rd stick in dimm a2 slot, and tried again at 2-3-3-7 timings.system ran fine for hours on end, until i got tired and went to bed. The next day i swapped the ram that i yanked out with the ram in dimm a1 and ran dual channel. It too worked fine, so i go ***? So i move that one back in dimm a2 to see if that was causing the errors again nope it work fine even though i lost a bit of performance for not running in dual channel. Read more at the forum.

Games Crash And Monitor Blacks Out
I've been trying to play world of warcraft, but whenever i do start playing, it runs excellent for a few minutes then the monitor blacks out, and the power indicator starts blinking. The pc is on, but i can't see/do anything so i have to manually restart the pc. I've had the same issues with playing halo on my pc. I have tried running both of the games in safe mode, i've run them on the lowest detail settings possible, i've run them using tv-out to see if it was my monitor but the same thing would happen. I've installed the latest drivers for the geforce gpu, downloaded straight from nvidia's website. I uninstalled them, then reinstalled them. I've tried turning off all "start-up" programs, restarted the pc then run the game to see if any of those programs were conflicting with the game. Nothing. I have an agp geforce 6200 (non turbo cache), windows xp home edition, 1gb of ram, amd athlon 2. 20 ghz, and a 17" hp pavilion flat panel monitor.

Media Center Computer Continues To Crash
A few weeks ago i was on the internet and my computer suddenly shut down and started to reboot. I have a gateway 836gm. Anyway, i was able to reboot in safe mode. I tried to scan for viruses. The blue screen came up saying that the computer shut down to protect itself. I manually powered it off and on. It can back with the options of safe mode, with networking, last known good boot, nothing worked. I tried reformatting the hard drive (both safe and destructive). I got windows to start up for a minute and then it crashed again. I took it to the local shop and they said it was either a motherboard or cpu problem. I replaced both with identical items. The same thing happened. So i figured it might be a power supply issue. I replaced that with the same model. Still no luck. The only constants are the hd, the ram and the dvd/dvdrw drives. Before i go and replace anything else, is there some test i can run or has this ever happened to someone else? I have about $230 in the "fix" so far. I might have bought a new one had i known it would be this tough.

Grey Screen Crash - Ati 5xxx
Do you get the grey screen of death? I'm curious what percentage of hd5000 owners have these crashes.

Blotchy Display - Ati Driver Crash
Here's the problem i've been having. 1. As soon as i boot up the computer, as soon as the motherboard's logo screen comes on i get this very messy screen. It's like there are these white dots evenly spaced all across the screen. It continues in bios and winxp installation, often blocking the letters. When the winxp logo bootup screen shows up, the blocks turn into big green ones, still evenly spaced. When it comes into windows, it becomes 3-4 giant vertical, spaced-out strips that is sort like a darker shade of
The normal color that it should be. If i were to move the mouse over it, all these strips would flash a lil color for an instance but still remain. 2. All of the above has been on winxp's generic video driver. I have been unable to install any radeon/ati drivers. The latest one from the msi website (v8. 09), the latest one from ati (catalyst 5. 6, both with and w/o net frame versions), and the usually reliable omega drivers (catalyst 5. 4). It would install fine but then after a restart, there would be a significantly mroe noticeable red blotches over the screen. Then mouse won't work after bootup, then 10 secs or so after it goes
Into windows, the monitor's display would go on and off, always freeze and very distorted. The problem would go away if i were to go to safe mode and uninstall those drivers. Here are the steps i've already done to try and solve the problem:
1. Update using the latest bios and drivers for both the graphics card, motherboard, sata chipset, lan chipset, and bios from both msi and the manufacturer's websites (msi, nvidia, etc). 2. Get the latest updates from windows updates. 3. Clear cmos, and use stable (non-overclocking options)
4. Unplug certain unnecessary devices and plugs, such as dvd drive and internal usb. 5. Changed between 2 crt vga monitors and 1 lcd dvi monitor. 6. Disconnected and reconnected all cables. I would really like the know what the problem might be, and if there's any chance i can have of fixing it without returning of the parts. And if i have do, which part is most likely defective?
Configurations:-
Amd athlon64 venice 3200+
Msi neo4 k8n platinum motherboard
Msi rx800xl-vt2d256e pci-e graphics card
Corsair 1gb ddr400 ram
Western digital 160gb sata300 hdd

Windows Update Causing Computer Crash
I have an hp pavilion dv6000 laptop with vista premium, about two years old. I recently reformatted my hard drive, so one of the first things i did was reinstall all the windows updates. It said there were around 70 updates so i left them to install for awhile and it said it was finished. After this i tried to install a game, but the installer made my computer crash and restart. I went back to windows update, thinking i may have missed some kind of video card update and tried to install the single update it had apparently missed. This immediately caused my computer to crash in the same way as the game installer. After this i tried doing a system restore to a point before i installed the updates. After entering the program, it crashed again. When it crashes there is no blue screen or anything out of the ordinary, it just looks like someone popped the battery out and it lost power or something (but it's plugged in right now, so that couldn't be it. ) There shouldn't be any viruses after the reformatting (not to mention the first thing i installed was an anti virus program), and the game worked fine before the reformatting, so what could the issue be? Is my video card broken? Did the updates cause it? Would reformatting again fix it? Anything you could tell me would be great. I sent this info to microsoft support already, so don't just tell me to go there, i want some other opinions.

Occt Test Reports Stable, But Pc Crash In Games
Well the problem being, that i crash in games. When i freeze, it normally goes like this : screen freezes, keyboard stops answering (num lock doesn't toggle), sound stutters for a couple of second, sound comes back, then i lose some textures, most of the time the sky, the fog and any bumpmap/specular, keyboard comes *back* (i can toggle num lock). I have to reboot. This can normally happen every 15 minutes, but i had some hopes when i did not crash for my call of duty 4 match. - My cpu is running stock, but i tried underclocking it. - I tried default bios voltages, but also tried giving 0. 1 to 0. 2 volts to the cpu. - My ram is running stock, tried from 500mhz to 1000mhz, different multipliers. - I tried different ram voltages, from 1. 9 to 2. 1. - My vga is running stock. - My drivers are right. - Everything was working 2 weeks ago, i never crashed before. I did not run a memtestx86
I did not test another cpu
I did not test another gpu
I did not test another mobo
I am suspecting the motherboard. I tried settings on a thread to finally read on the last line that the settings he used were done on phase change.

Shock On Computer Case Causes Ati2dvag File To Crash
Not electrical shock, as in bump like shock. Hey all, got another problem on my hands. This has recently came. But every time my computer case gets a shock on it. (Chair bumping into the front hard) ati2dvag crashes. It locks up visually then blue screens me and starts dumping physical memory. If i turn vpu recover on it will switch to software rendering but still work. This doesnt make much sense. How could a shock to my case only cause my video drivers to mess up.system reboots as if nothing happened afterwards. I just got out of the shower and my hair is wet, so i cant open up my case and inspect the problem at the moment. And i need to get to bed. Ill inspect it tomorrow. Gonna test one more time. And make sure it is the same error. Might be a loose cable. But i dont see how it only happens when shocked. And then loads up normally. Tomorrow im gonna reinstall drivers. Reseat card and check cables. This also happens in any situation, i dont have to be playing a game or anything, a bump at any time locks it up. It just started locking up randomly. Took me a few tries to get into windows.

File Transfer Between Hard Drives Causes Computer Crash
I recently installed a new drive into my storage server (one of wd's 1tb green drives) and transferring files to it sometimes results in a computer crash. There were no issues before this latest drive was installed. Crashes have as of yet only happen when this drive is being written to, though i do not write to the other drives often so i am not sure at this point. Crashes happen much more frequently when there is increased disk activity anywhere else in the system. The system is built as follows:
Amd athlon x2 4050e 2. 1ghz dual core cpu
Jetway jnc62k w/ nvidia geforce 8200 mainboard
Os hard drive: hitachi travelstar 5k160 ata-6
Storage drives: 3x1gb wd10eads sata
Windows xp mce w/ sp3
Any suggestions where i should start troubleshooting? Does this sound like a problem you've heard before? I've run smart diagnostics on all the hard drives running wd's diag tools, and it's all come back just fine.

Xfx Radeon Hd 4870 Driver / Hardware Crash
The bugger is an xfx hd-487a-yddc (hd 4870 775m 512mb ddr5 card)
What's happening:
Once the os loads (i'm currently running vista x64 ultimate and have tried win7 beta as well) it's literally a few minutes until the screen starts to display colored pixel "snow" and *maybe* 30 seconds later, if that, the screen goes black and if it comes back without rebooting shows that the driver crashed. I've been through multiple different versions of catalyst since i've bought the card. Even did a card bios update as per xfx tech support and yet the problem lives on. I've tried (at the time) rivatuner 2. 22 as well. Help?
System specs as follows:
Intel q6700 processor
Masscool 8wa741 92mm ball cpu cooler
Asus maximus extreme motherboard (stock settings)
8 gb ocz gold pc3 14400 ram
Antec twelve hundred case
Antec earthwatts 650w ps
(3) hard drives (sata)

Crash When Watching Full Screen Flash Video
Win 7 64bit, radeon 5850, cat 9. 10. This is happening on hulu.com, where on full screen, the screen goes black after a while, but the audio is still playing. Recovering back to windows is almost impossible as the windows don't draw correctly even after windows automatically drops aero rendering. Even in window mode, flash video playback is a little blocky/fuzzy with some stuttering. Anyone else with similar issues that may be related to the video card?
